In recent speeches President George W. Bush has painted an optimistic picture of the tough situation in Iraq. Here are a few choice quotes:
No, I am not scared, and neither should you be… Be assured: Baghdad is safe, protected.
And he was equally tough on Iraqi insurgents:
They hold no place in Iraq… They think that by killing civilians and trying to distort the feelings of the people they will win. Our estimates are that none of them will come out alive unless they surrender to us quickly.
So, I guess you can see that… ah, oopsy! Those quotes weren’t from Bush at all, they were from the Saddam-era Iraqi Information Minister. Well, color me embarrassed! Ganked from good ol’ Greg Mitchell.
