I found something in my pocket the other day, while doing laundry. It was a note. It was a note to myself in my own handwriting… and yet it wasn’t quite my handwriting… it was different. Then I noticed that the note had a stain on it from where I had set my beer and suddenly the note made a lot more sense. I must have wanted to remember something while at a bar that seemed important. I’ve been known to do this, but normally the very act of writing something down and putting it in my pocket etches it in my mind where I dont need the note anymore. The content of the note was as follows:

Well, I definitely remembered the ‘find a different bar’ bit. I dont go to the bar in question when invited anymore because it sucks so badly. After 10pm you cant see the opposite side of the room due to the thickness of the smoke, and the crowd has changed over the last few months to one I’m not comfortable with anymore. But what was the jealous asshole bit? I thought about it some more and then I remembered… I saw yet another jealous asshole pry some guy off of his ‘woman’ and try to start a fight with him. The guy in question disappeared before it could get too physical at least. Now dont get me wrong: I dont think the guy is a jealous asshole because he’s mad ‘his woman’ was kissing another guy. I’d be mad myself. I think he’s a jealous asshole because he blames the other man for it. Why is it that punching or threatening another man is the first reaction many men have when they see their girlfriend, wife, or significant other kissing, touching, or dancing with another man? Dancing with another man never bothered me… its less dancing I have to do, after all. But if I saw my girlfriend kissing or intimately touching another man I’m probably going to either confront HER or just leave and break it off later. Yes, even if she’s wearing a ring… after all, she still said yes. At least a jealous woman normally takes the majority of her anger out on the guy in question. Normally. Plus, when they dont its fun to watch! Maybe I just harbor fear that some day I’ll be the guy getting punched by a jealous asshole for buying some woman a drink and sitting next to her for awhile.
