Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Save Games… Redux

January 19th, 2009 by Clme · 13 Comments

Last November I posted three save files for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (version 2.0) after completing some of the more tedious objectives. Those GTA:SA save games have turned out to be fairly popular, so with that in mind I’ve put up a few more that were requested. In addition, I’ve reposted the original three with a little more explanation about them.

So, from the beginning…

Save File #1 (slot 5): All 100 tags have been spraypainted, no missions have been completed. Some safehouses were purchased using money from killing drug dealers so I could save the game.

Benefits: All 100 tags means that there will be four weapons available for you in CJ’s moms house. Molotov cocktails, a submachine gun, a shotgun, and an assault rifle.

Save File #2 (slot 4): Continuation of previous plus pimping missions complete. No story missions completed.

Benefits: Previous benefits plus now prostitutes will pay you to have sex with them.

Save File #3 (slot 3): Continuation of #2, plus the firefighter missions are complete. No story missions completed.

Benefits: Previous benefits, plus you are now fireproof. This comes in extremely handy for certain missions, plus allows you to use molotov cocktails without having to worry about accidentally setting yourself on fire. (note: You still aren’t explosion proof).

Save file #4 (slot 8 ): Continuation of #3, plus the ’8 track’ stadium mission is complete. No story missions completed.

Benefits: Previous benefits plus Monster truck and Hotring racer available outside the stadium. (There is no reason for this save file other than I like the monster truck).

Save file #5 (slot 7): Continuation of #4, plus the ‘taxi’ missions are complete (50 people transported). No story missions completed.

Benefits: Previous benefits, plus now all taxis will have nitrous and can bounce.

Save file #6 (slot 6): Continuation of #5, plus the ‘ambulance’ missions are complete. No story missions completed.

Benefits: Previous benefits, plus maximum health has been boosted. (Increased health can be very helpful in future missions or gang wars).

To use these files:
There should be a folder named “GTA San Andreas User Files” in your My Documents folder that you can put the save game in. After its in there, start the game and start the saved game. The slot number will match up with the appropriate save game name. So GTASAsf4.b will be in slot 4. GTASAsf3.b will be in slot 3, and so on.

Good luck. Please remember these are 2nd edition files and may not work as expected in version 1. As always, I can not be held responsible for any damage you may inflict upon your computer by taking my suggestions or following my instructions. You use these files at your own risk.

If you’re playing this game in Windows Vista:

The game only seems to work correctly if you use “Run As Administrator”.

Unfortunately since this game was written well before Vista came out this workaround is needed. More information can be found with this Google search: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%22Run+as+administrator%22+vista&btnG=Google+Search&aq=f&oq=

How do I get this to work? I copy the stuff over into a different save file but then it says save file corrupted.

Typically a ‘save file corrupt’ message means that your username in windows has a special character in it. You can find workarounds for this if you do some google searches for “San Andreas save file corrupt”

Otherwise, it could be that you’re running a version that isn’t compatible with this save file. I only tested it in version 2, so if you’re running a previous version (or one that was modded for trainers or hot coffee) then I have no idea if it will work. Are you running version 2?

The file listed as Save file 6 (slot 6) was the incorrect file. It was a different copy of Save file 3.

    This has been corrected.

Sorry about that. Please let me know if any of the others are also mislabeled.

I just went through and got some property and benefits so that you could still play through the game completely yourself with no ‘cheats’ but with a slight advantage.

Having 50% more health and better weapons from the start, being fireproof, and having nitrous on all taxis should give you an edge.

For tips on how to pass the harder missions (Like that damn one with the forklift) look through several of the walkthroughs available on other websites. Some of them have very good tips like “get 6 boxes lined up and ready to go before you let Ryder in to the army base”.

Sorry, I wont be posting a 100% completed file for this one. I normally lose interest when I finish the story missions and the fun challenges are gone. That doesn’t mean I’ll never upload any more mission files, but this is a 6 year old game now so I don’t play it as often as I used to.
