Comfortable With Conformity

February 6, 2001 I went shopping at Ross with my mom, actually found pants that fit me, and came home to a phone message from The Miami New Times. For those not familiar with the New Times, they have newspapers in Phoenix, Denver, Cleveland, Miami, Dallas, Los Angeles...and some other big cities. They're a free, weekly, trendy news publication that I've always wanted to write for. They called about an editorial administrative position, full time. This is what I call a glorified secretary. Still, it's in the editor's department, it requires proofreading, and it's for an extremely popular and well-respected newspaper. The salary is kinda weak, but it's a salary, and compared to what I make now, a weak salary vs. no salary looks pretty good. Anyhow, I have an interview and proofreading test on Thursday, but I am not counting on this job. I'm sick of being this positive, meek, well-intentioned moron who gets interviews and no call backs. Anyway, I bought some nice pants...ehh, forget it. |
