Comfortable With Conformity

S is so busy all the time! I feel like the Ross in the relationship, when Rachel got involved in her new job. Sometimes, especially last night, I feel pretty worthless when searching for something to say when he asks me, "What's new?"

The color of my nail polish?

A new Pop Stars episode?

A new thrift-store find?

Actually, something significant did happen to me yesterday-- I received my notice of graduation letter. That was pretty major. As most of you know, I'd been nervous about any red tape getting mucked up in the process, but looks like I'm graduating at long last on May 1st, the day after I turn 26.

Something like The Firm happened to me and S last weekend. One of S's wealthy students invited S and I over his $300,000 house. The second we entered, I was sucked into a conversation with his chatty wife, while S was whisked off to look at the husband's rifle. I felt about 12 years old, sitting on a hard wicker chair in the sparse living room, being attacked by one of their large dogs, simutaneously giving childish, one-word answers to the wife's questions:

Her: So, are you going to school?

Me: Yeah.

Her: Oh, really, where at? What are you studying?

Me: FIU. English.

Her: Oh! That's great. My old college roommate was an English major and she went to law school.

Me: I'm not going to law school.

Sometimes I get very shy around people.

Anyway, I actually have plans, so I'm cutting this one short.
