Comfortable With Conformity

August 11th

Saturday early afternoon

I feel good today. I think it's because I've been forcing myself to get up early (relatively early) and workout everyday. You know that gross feeling you have when you wake up at noon, don't feel like exercising, and want to eat doughnuts for breakfast? That's how I'd been feeling for weeks. I rose after noon, ate candy bars and watched The Golden Girls. When you get into a cycle like that, it's hard to get out of it. One night, when I listening to Loveline on the ride home from S's apt, Adam said something that stuck in my mind. He said depressed people have a lack of energy, so the best thing for them to do is force themselves to be active. Active people are rarely depressed. Although, when you're depressed, it's so hard to be active. He said it's like physical therapy-- you don't want to exercise, but you need to to feel better. This is so true. I wanted to be active and feel good again, but I was so tired all the time. Even though I didn't want to workout, I forced myself to. It was awful. Forty-five minutes, pumping away on the stationary bike, watching TV. It's hell. Not that riding a bike is that strenuous, but it's boring. I did Tae Bo yesterday for some exercise variety, but quite frankly I'm getting sick of Tae Bo. What I really want is to work out at a gym, but I have like $7 to my name.
