weis bonzi buddy	posted 04-02-2001 07:50 I dunno about those riddles, they're kind of vague. IMHO, 9 could be "air," "water," "heat," or "energy." Or something else, naturally. So here's one that's a little more concrete, and I guess I should say, if you've already heard it, give others a chance to guess (since this is my own adaptation on an old riddle): A drug dealer has eight suppliers coming over to sell him pot. Each supplier is bringing an ounce of grass, and each supplier has been nice enough to separate his ounce into 8 baggies, each of which contains an eighth of an ounce of weed. The problem is, the drug dealer knows that one of his suppliers is shorting him. Specifically, one of the suppliers always shorts his eighths by one gram. In other words, that supplier's ounce will be eight grams short, since each of the eight baggies in it is light by a gram. The drug dealer has an electric scale (not a balance) with a digital readout in grams. Unfortunately, it's been on the fritz lately, and it's only good for one weighing. So the drug dealer can put some amount of pot on the scale, hit "weigh", and look and observe the results. That's it, one weighing is all he gets. So how can he determine which supplier is shorting him? You can ignore the weights of the bags, and you can assume this pot dealer is not clever enough to locate the short ounce by eyeballing or any other crafty means. ------------------ With proper thrust, pigs fly just fine. --RFC 1925 IP: Logged

When he weighs the final pile, he should come up with 1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8 = 36/8 = four and a half ounces. When he comes up short, he knows that the number of grams he is short of his target weight is the same as the number of the dealer who shorted him. I r0xx0r! IP: Logged

The reason the answer to #9 is "dozens" and not "thirteen" is because when you take the "s" out of "dozen" you have a dozen, or twelve. You can't take a letter out of the word "thirteen" and leave 12. But I see what you are saying. As for #10.. it cant be "air" because air isnt really a part of us(that being the human body) It could be heat.. but the realy answer makes more sense... When does energy leave our bodies? If you believe the soul is enegry and when you die it's released than yea.. but wouldnt the energy goto "heaven" and not the world? #12 is still unanswered.. 2 more to go.
