The gents who make Fat Tire (New Belgium brewing) do a couple really nice Belgian ales ... the Abbey and Trappist are awesome, and you simply must try their 1551.

I know what you mean Sara, I laughed when I started reading what I thought was a new thread and saw a post by myself.

I wonder how it is I never even saw this thread. I must have taken a message board sabatical that week.

On topic, I've had the Abbey made by the New Belgium Brewing Company, a bit strong... but I would surely order a pint if I found a Portland bar that had it on tap.

While we're on the subject, I recently tried Rogue Hazelnut Brown Ale... oh my god... so good. If only I could find it in bottles.

Good god, people, drop more than $2 on your high gravity 40's.

Bell's Solsun Ale is the best light nut beer.

Sammy Smith Oatmeal is the best
stout.

Guinness is NOT mud in a glass.

Two Hearted Amber is the best amber.

And the best domestic brewer is Labatts, if you want to save money.

Neither. It's more of a social construct than a drink. No-one who is under about 24 is capable of drinking a beer simply as refreshment, without it being something of a statement concerning why they choose to drink.
Don't worry about it too much.

Well yeah, but that includes tea, coffee, etc, as well.

The reason people like certain beers a lot is because of A. the desired effect, and B. the taste.

Anyone, even OVER 24, who says different is full of shit .
