Are they psychedelic mushrooms?

they sort of are, yes. you knock on the hut and this total stoner guy comes out. he says he's experimenting with special mushrooms and needs you to find the one that shakes the most. if you get it right, he rewards you by giving you a spell that makes your creature be a loving creature. heh. i cant figure out where villagers get hemp pants though.
