Since we run this website for the readers, if everyone is bored with TFC what would you like to see the TFC gaming box become? Tribes2 server? CS server? Q3A server?

I know you guys are probably all gonna sneer, but I'm all about Unreal Tournament over either Half-Life or Quake3 for 'net play.

If you guys ran a UT server, I would definitely reinstall UT and come out and start spankin' dat ass.

If you are going to replace the TFC server.. I'm with Jimbo.. Unreal Tournament. I got some really kick ass maps for it (mmm Oracle... like a Q3 space map).

I would like to reiterate my demand for UNREAL TOURNAMENT BABY... Monju will play, I know that. We've been talking smack all morning.

Is Tribes2 worth a shit? I never played the original, saw Tribes2 demoed at Best Buy but nobody was playing so it was hard to really form an opinion.

from what i've heard from friends tribes 2 kicks major ass if you can run it. two friends of mine who play tribes a lot report that it is almost unplayable on a 700mhz machine with a tnt 2, but runs pretty well on a 1ghz with a geforce2 ultra. of course, they are a little demanding, so i think the 700/tnt2 could run it fine at the sacrifice of graphic crazy-assery and only a 20-30fps rating or so (which is still enjoyable for me anyways).

if you haven't tried tribes 1 yet, do yourself a favor and do so. it's only about $10 anymore and no game can compare to playing ctf over a several square mile mission zone and being able to fly. i just can't go back anymore to any game where i'm rooted on the cold, cold ground.

Tribes 2 isn't as good at Tribes for one reason... SKIING. It sucks compared to Tribes' skiing, of course, the graphics are better, but graphics will always be better. Skiing is a major part of Tribes, and they fucked it over in Tribes 2

i have to disagree about skiing. again, i have nowhere near enough power to play the game myself, but from what i've heard skiing isn't gone it's just toned down a lot. personally i'm glad they did it.

one of the worst things in tribes 1 is the ability for a lone gunman to swoop across several miles of terrain, into and out of a base and capture a flag before the opposing team ever knew he was coming. i'm all for single strikes and heroism but it just doesn't seem right that a team oriented game could be so dominated with such a simple trick. if you really need to ski to enjoy tribes, i'm sure a mod will be along shortly.

personally i'm displeased that there aren't light hercs added as one of the vehicle choices. a little convergence between starseige and tribes would have been cool, and the lower agility of the herculeans would have made up for their heavy weapons and armor.

TFC is an acronym for Team Fortress Classic, which is a mod for Half-Life. Running the TFC mod, players can pick several different variant "classes" with differing abilities, like Medic, Scout, etc.

Fen - TFC is Team Fortress Classic. Team Fortress was orignally released for Quake I believe, as a modification. Half-life has it also, but with the "Classic" added at the end. It is a fun modification with 8 different classes(Scout, Spy, Engineer, Soldier, Heavy Weapons Guy, Pyromaniac, Medic, and Demolitions Man) and different missions. Capture the Flag, Command points, assassination. It is great fun.
