Cee-El-Em-Ee.Say that really fast a number of times and you end up with "Shelly". Sounds reasonable. IP: Logged |

I always say it "Kleem" in my head, like"Boy I sure do hate that Kleem!" But that is nowhere near the way it is spelled. Maybe it should be "Kluh-May" Like Daisy May, you have 2 names! You are the Belle of the Ball! And I say eod as "Eee-Odd" fits I think

Every time I see eod, I always think Explosive Ordnance Demolition. Could have something to do with those 6 years in the Navy... hm.As for Clme, I used to have a problem with that too - worse, I couldn't even figure out for sure if it was "Clme" or "C1me"! But now, being given a pronunciation would just fuck things up because my brain has grown accustomed to interpreting the letters "Clme" as referring to him without attaching a phonetic sound to it. Very very odd, that - you think to yourself "I know how to pronounce Clme! It's pronounced 'Clme'!" ... and then you attempt to actually say it OUT LOUD and realize you just weren't pronouncing it at all. Weird. IP: Logged |

I pronounce clme as klmay (dutch tones) hehe sounds Klingon, now I say it out loud. I don't know why, out of lazyness I guess.I pronounce shelly as shelly (shell-ee), not seelemee.. or Cee-El-Em-Ee.. not even when I'm totally drunk. I don't have the slightes idea how you can pronounce shelly as Cee-El-Em-Ee... even when you say it fast a couple of times... anyone with me? STOP CALLING HIM SHELLY! Ok, now I'm obsessed... I pronounce Eod, as ee-odd. Never thought about any 'deeper meanings'. I never do actually... think that is... But Jimbo's theory about not prounouncing at all works for me too sometimes.. It's very weird indeed now I realise it.. IP: Logged |

I've always said "c-l-m-e" It works. As for Eod, I heard it was Babylonian or Enochian or some kind of ancient langauge. The word means 'god' in one of those. I've pronounced that "E-od" Jimbo - "C:\Random\Military\FM 4-20.16 - EOD - Multiservice Procedures for Explosive Ordnace Disposal.pdf" or, as the title page says : "Multiservice Procedures for EOD in a Joint Enviroment" My pdf is messed up though.. oh well. Gah - did I say "Demolition" instead of "Disposal?" I'm always doing that shit. It's kinda fucked up, cause EODs really do blow shit up...I like how one of your refs is "4-20" and the other is "in a joint environment." Heh. IP: Logged |

"Multiservice Procedures for EOD in a Joint Environment" sounds like instructions on how to get eod in a threesome.I just say C. L. M. E. if I have to because I know it was never meant to be pronounced as a word. -Bex IP: Logged |

This reminds me of this hilarious japanese comic strip I read the other day. It's of a kid and his teacher. The kid has written this bizarre symbol on the blackboard (one that isn't engish or japanese) and he's saying to the teacher, "Look, I made a new letter."The teacher say, "Hm, that's very interesting. Uh... how is it pronounced?" Then in the last panel the kid replies, and inside his speech bubble is the same bizarre symbol. That had me laughing my ass off. I don't know why... Very zen. Plus I like that the joke can't be gotten in any medium except comics. anyway- IP: Logged |

Hahahahahahaa, no. He'd needs a giant mole on his face. THEN he'll look like Lemmy. It's funny because eod (pronounced by me as E-odd) pronounces his name as "Clem". Just for convenience, I assume. ------------------ Ain't that the drizzlin shits? IP: Logged |

A troll of a troll of a troll of a troll of a troll. Damn. Is the final vote for Clem?
Clem sounds so... redneck backwoods hickish. I can just picture it, like a scene from "Deliverance":
DAD:"Clem! Come on out and hide the still afore these city folk get out here" CLEM:"'K dad, Should I give Billy-Bob his banjo?" DAD:"Aw, shucks. I guess. Keep 'im from chasing dem out o' the driveway again."
But.. if the vote is for "Clem" I'll take it. Its definitely better than "Shelly" -Chris IP: Logged |
