Yes, it would be a few thousand files or so. I don't feel like opening every single one; I'd like something that could convert an entire directory, if possible.IP: Logged |

Damn...But when you convert somthing over to a .txt format you lose all formatting dont you? If any of those documents have special justification/columns/fonts/etc it will all be turned into a simple ASCII document that will not read well. I think that you lose everything but hard returns. I'll look around myself, but the idea of converting that many files seems folly to me. Most decent word processing programs already have an interpreter built in to read other formats. Just out of curiosity.. why do you want to convert that many files? IP: Logged |

I don't know of a program; however, if you make yourself a macro from within word, it could be done a LOT quicker...IP: Logged |

I have a program called "RenameIt" that I, er, um, found on the street one day that is apparently designed just to rename files like that. I've never used it but I've been assured by the, um, street bums near where I picked it up that it works great. Maybe that's what you're looking for?------------------ Ain't that the drizzlin shits? Oh wait, on second thought, I doubt that will help. I missed the all-important verb "convert". Oh well. If you want to rename like 6000 .mp3s *cough*Jimbo*cough* then this is the program for you. otherwise, no.------------------ Ain't that the drizzlin shits? IP: Logged |

Dude, I don't know. I think my sense of humor died a quiet death sometime last week. That was supposed to be a reference to your massive .mp3 collection. And it wasn't even funny when I wrote it. ------------------ Ain't that the drizzlin shits? IP: Logged |

Why do I want to convert that many files? Well... the company my dad works for found that the government is bidding out a job to convert them. (That's my understanding, anyway. My dad is semi-computer literate, and I think he got the general idea across.) I have no idea why they want them changed, but the company (and me) could make a bunch of money doing it.IP: Logged |
