Wow this has gotten hairy. Cyd I only have two comments... and I hope that you know I'm not trying to hurt your feelings. I think that had you refrained from lashing out and taken the initial comments as slighty ill-toned constructive critism we wouldn't be 25 posts deep in petty bickering. Secondly, if you could care less whether or not people use your posts to wipe their asses.. why do you post? I mean that with absolutely no sarcasm. This is a website designed to entertain its readers, if you don't care about those readers opinions why bother? IP: Logged |

clme, i don't know why you've taken everything i said to jimb0 and applied it to yourself. i directed no attacks at you, i merely said:============================================ clem: i can understand your difficulty in understanding that sentence. there are a lot of things being said there, and quite minimally at that. i do, however, often include links that flesh out my post, and are interesting both within and without the context of my post. ============================================ admitting that the original sentence in question wasn't well worded. it was jimb0 who began saying i was having internal dialogues, writing tortured syntax, and claiming i was more enlightened than other people. so, it was jimb0 to whom i responded in kind. and jimb0, i just don't understand you. i made a post about how i was really depressed, but that the culmination of my life's work was helping me to get by because i felt like i was making a difference in the world, and you responded by attacking my grammar and accusing me of pretention. real nice. so, sara, i weakly tried to cover the fact that i was hurt by such callousness by saying that i didn't care. and for the last time, i try to share some of my deeper thoughts and realizations, not because i think that they are any deeper than anyone elses, but because those are the things that i find interesting. i freely admit that i don't have any more of a clue of what's going on than anyone else. us art fags just prefer to share our vision with others. What happened to "take this to email if you have anything else to say about it?" C'mon man, I already let you have the last word, do you need the last word twice? Since you brought it back up - again - here we go: quote: Cyd's 1st reply: [my post] is a play on words of...
quote: Cyd's 2nd reply an hour later: ... sorry you had a tough time understanding my post, jimbo, but it wasn't the fault of my grammar...
quote: Cyd's 3rd reply, after another 2 hours of stewing: ... it is not, as your blunted slight would indicate I believe, that you are less "enlightened" than me or than anyone else... for those too lazy to click on the link [dorian gray in a nutshell for all you uneducated barbarians out there]
With no input from anyone else, you progressed from a civil explanation of wtf you were talking about to an irritable defense of your grammar to a purely disdainful statement that yes, you do in fact think you know more than the rest of us, and also think we're too lazy even to gobble up the nuggets of wisdom you drop via link. On the other hand, this "stewing in your own juices" bit seems to be a significant part of your behavioral makeup, since you're doing it AGAIN now bringing this shit back up, even after I let you get the last word with that "let's take it to email" bitch-move last night. Anyway. You need to re-read what Sara wrote above, 'cause she's droppin' considerably more wisdom than you have so far. Yes, my initial post was mildly irritable, irritATING even - or "ill-toned" as she put it. It was, however, also a pretty simple and functional request for clarification. You did a dandy job of answering it in your first reply. If you'd left it at that, everything woulda been all hunky dory, and you'd have come out on top - J1mb0 the irritable grouchy fuck got the placid, serene reply from the estimable Cyd. But no, you had to go stew about it and keep piling crap on it, so that by the time I saw it, I got the results of three hours of festering Cydness. Frankly man, your patrician attitude SUCKS. When somebody - me - complained about how hard your shit was to read, you IMMEDIATELY assumed that the problem couldn't possibly be your prose, it MUST be the complainer's lack of grounding in classic literature - because just explaining the allusion wasn't enough, no, you had to go and directly state that your grammar wasn't the problem, and call the people reading your posts "too lazy to click a link" at the same time. The whole point of my second reply - which was characterized by one person who shall remain nameless as "not much of a smackdown" - was to get the point across that no, the problem was NOT lack of being well-read, the problem was that DESPITE having read the works you're alluding to, your shit STILL isn't clear. On a final and particularly unfriendly note, here's a line-by-line explanation of my references to Sisyphus in regards to attempting to communicate with you: Every post you make in this thread is another tangled mess of poor logic, whiny self-defense, sneering disdain, and way too many fucking carriage returns to wade through - and even when allowed to have the last word, you seem to be incapable of just shutting the fuck up. The first two or three times I read penismightier, Cyd had posts at the top of the page. His posts had such a low signal:noise ratio that I just couldn't for the life of me understand why Jimbo likes this site so much. Eventually I read some other posts by non-Cyd-like posters, and realized that the site doesn't suck, after all.I also don't think I'd call Cyd an "art fag"--I would think that those with a firm grasp on art would have the ability to use proper grammar and capitalization and such. ------------------ Reverend Rob IP: Logged |

Cyd:The reason that I took your responses to Jimbo personally was that I pretty much agreed with a good deal of what he said. Baldghoti: Yes, I had the same problem the first time or two I found PenIs. I disagree with your definition of an "art-fag" though, because I believe that Cyd KNOWS proper grammar/puntuation, He just thinks that inserting carriage returns and rearranging words will express his disdain for all that is accepted and good. He is, of course, allowed that luxury....but it makes it hard as fuck to read anything he posts. -Chris IP: Logged |

i asked people before i started posting again whether they wanted me to post the same types of things i had posted before. (epiphanies, etc.) mostly, people said they had missed it and liked it, so i went ahead. there are obviously quite a few, including posters, who feel that i detract from penismightier. fine. i don't want to force myself on anyone. i'll leave with no regret. it was fun. thanks to those of you who supported me. you made a big difference in my life, and helped me to believe in myself. Cyd:I went back to the thread that you mentioned above: http://www.penismightier.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000018.html And did an IP check on the posts. Some of the posts had remarkably similar IP addresses...like identical. There were two other IP addresses besides yours... but I have a sneaking suspicion that of the 2 people that may have responded, at least one may not have been for real. Clme:Oh, so he's trying to make his prose look poetic? Okay, maybe he is an art fag. Something about him reminds me of a guy on the Uglykittens forum named Sloth. He uses very poor grammar and refuses to use punctuation, has a touch of a messiah complex (If I'm being persecuted, then I must be right), and constantly posts really low-caliber poetry. Cyd, have you ever let a fat chick jerk you off in a clubhouse? Cause if so, A Winner Is You!

come on. leave cyd alone. regardless of whether he sometimes gets off into a weird world of his own, he does sometimes post thought provoking things.it's kind of like jonkatz on slashdot (only adding the thought provoking things). despite being hated by most of the posters (a lot more than what dislikes cyd here) and knowing absolutely nothing about what he's talking about (cyd doesn't have that problem since it's usually us who don't know what he's talking about whether he does or not), he persists. that, i suppose, is a worthy thing in itself. something to break up groupthink and promote new conversation. and i think cyd's "bordering on lunacy" style is better than katz's "this would be a fucking troll if he weren't serious" style any day. if the idea that some people are opposed to his posting is too much for him, i guess he has to leave but we will be losing a valuable part of the site. As Cyds id, I have the occasion to tell you all many things about the "Cydster" as he privately calls himself.Cyd has the habit of making offensive comments in the interest of "being completely honest" but not being able to take any criticism himself. I was chatting with his Ego and we compared notes. We've come to the conclusion that if we're going to be self-righteous and write such drivel, then we're up for flames. Its not like everyone has to sit back just because we're Cyd. I mean, we called you our black sheep for the love of God* Cyds Id. *All above comments were made without consulting the Super Ego or Psyche. IP: Logged |

there's a summer song on the radioit saddens me that people would read my posts without clicking the links. although i do sometimes have long discussions with myself in my head (more on this later), most of my posts are not terribly thoughtful. the meat of the post is in presenting some sort of unusual image or video to the reader (hint: that's you guys [and girls]). thus, with my posts especially, it makes sense to click the link when you get to it, because the post *is* the content. "the medium is the message." name that canadian heritage moment and win a prize. now, on to the grammar syntax. i've never used sql, so that didnt even occur to me. as for the comparison to java, it is techincally possible that grammar was implemented as a class, but i doubt it would turn out that way. what we are really comparing is the grammar of cyd and the grammar of yoda. thus, it makes more sense to have cyd and yoda be objects, probably of type artFag and uberJedi respectively. if cyd and yoda are part of an enumeration, it doesnt really make too much sense, because the line "grammar.cyd < grammar.yoda" does seem to imply we're comparing the grammar, not cyd and yoda themselves. we have to use some common sense when deciding what objects to build, after all. that's what good design principles are all about. and lastly: sometimes when i take my dog for a walk, i get bored. i start talking to myself about some issue, but that gets boring too. so i prefer to envision in my head a panel of 4 distinguished people with gray hair sitting in comfortable chairs around a coffee table insulting each other while trying to look super intelectual for the tv cameras. of course, this never ever accomplishes anything, but one of the panelists usually ends up crying, which is kinda cool. Zippy: I didn't say that people dont click on your links... I said that I bet many dont do it until after they've read the rest of your post.Personally, my favorite type of post is still "heres a short comment, now here's some porn" I just cant stop mid sentence and read a link. When I read a post I left click and open any link in a new window, then I read the links immediately following the completion of the post. It could just be me that does that, of course. Perhaps I'm not the best person to be speaking for everyone. -Chris IP: Logged |

i keep trying to figure out *why* it is that i like weird pr0n. i have an email from tycho of penny-arcade.com fame telling me that he liked "off-kilter pornography" in reference to penismightier. i dont know why he likes it either.i tell myself that i like that sort of thing because it exposes how weird humanity can be sometimes. i enjoy seeing that dark repressed fetish that people have, whatever it might be. but *why* exactly, i dont know yet. what makes anime tentacle rape pr0n better than a hot girl stripping? who knows. a hot girl stripping isn't anything you've never seen before. it's nothing really out of the ordinary. even if the girl is really hot, she's really not doing anything different that more ordinary girls who you've seen, and even touched, haven't done. watching that just doesn't take you beyond your own boring life.but take a hideously deformed girl stripping and there's some kind of macabre fascination. demon tentacles ripping a young virgin to shreds is most definitely not something you see every day. our culture, and the internet in particular, is obsessed with novelty. so despite not being arousing in the traditional sense of the word these kind of things hold our attention. but there's the rub, jimbo. i'm not shocked or disgusted at all by this sort of thing. it's just... there. nothing disgusts me anymore. i kinda miss when i was 12 or so and i could actually see something and go "ewww". i think it helps that i live in a student ghetto right now. we see all sorts of things here that you wouldn't normally see otherwise. I'm not either, zippy - there was a big thread on r33t.org's phorum about that a few years back when the japscat invasion was in full force. The general consensus was "ep-sample.avi stole my soul." Once you get to the point where you can watch ep-sample and feel no further pain, there's... there's just nothing left anymore. ::sobs broken-heartedly:: IP: Logged | |
