One suggestion: while they'll probably look fine on my monstrous KDS 21" monitor at home, on my mediocre/decent 17" monitor at work, I cannot see any background color at all to the title bars of the individual posts, and the monitor icons are also dark to the point of near-invisibility. This should definitely be fixed - a strong and distinct background to post headers breaks up the news section visually and makes it much easier to read as well as more attractive.

800x600 lamers are probably going to bitch about the top frame. Me personally, I'm fine with it... but I run 1280x1024 even on a mediocre 17" monitor, and 1600x1200 at home, so I'm really not hurting for the screen real estate.

At 800*600 the top banner is kinda huge but the good part is that the monitors that Jimbo was talking about stand out a lot more. But do we want to pander to those "lamers"? HAW HAW!

The other thing I was thinking was about putting the color-choosing boxes at the top, integrated in the Flash, possibly the top right. Down there underneath the sidebar is kinda hidden, especially for those at lower resolutions *cough clme cough*. At the top it'd be perfect.

And I revise my previous statement, eod. I think perhaps links like the TFC server, BBS, SETI, etc, could be included in one heading like Media, as well as including them on the main page side-bar. Just as a redundant fail-safe or something.

Also, psyci, what font is that in the background? Or rather, what fonts did you use in general? I could probably find out on my own, but I'm too lazy.

Jimbo: On stuff being too dark, agreed. I'll see how I can lighten it up a bit to make the titles more defined. About resolutions, I tested it on everything down to 640x480, and it looks fine resolution-wise on all of them. (And a morality question: if one runs 800x600 on a secondary monitor in a multimonitor config, are they still lame?)

MightyMon: What, you love me, but no flowers, no poetry? heh. Color change boxes at the top in flash, perhaps, I think throwing the colored boxes in a place so prevelent in the design would make it look uglier. Plus I don't think it's necessary to be viewable first thing anyway - it's not a required feature. Redundancy in links (seti and tfc) is definitely the way to go. Oh, and the font is called "Scratch." (Incidentally, I have another cool font called "Sniff")

Other things to add:
- For the final version, the color change information should be stored in a cookie, and retrieved that way instead of a searchstring.
- When one does a mouseover on the colors, the status bar message should definitely change to "penismightier.com does not reccomend or endorse attempting to change the color of your penIs outside your web browser."

As before, I don't have a lot of experimenting time, but I can do pretty much whatever you want done in flash for the top/side. Personally, I think one of the greatest uses of flash is keeping menus out of the way when they're not being used. I have done stuff lately with flash menus that are created real time from an xml file, which makes them easy to update.

I lightened up the gray backgrounds a bit so people on dark monitors (jimbo) can see them. Should be better now.

Since we're pretty much at the point where I can't do too much more, time to pass on the project to someone else. Here's the photoshop file for those completing the design: http://people.ne.mediaone.net/psyci/penismightier/psdesign5.zip

I am SO glad you went back to a rotator concept. The draft design is fabulous. I especially like the font behind the rotator. I kneel before your mightiness.
