the ugly, ugly, flame war which
was born out of the ashes of some
slightly irritatingly worded
constructive criticism came at a
seriously trying point in my life.
so, i fed the flames until i couldn't
stand the heat - a normal reaction
in that state of mind.

this being true, i wish i had been
above the petty bickering which
ensued, but i was not; and for that,
i apologize.

i realize that i often do forget
to use a new paragraph for a new
branch of thought, but when you
live in the land of controlled
tangetia, that's easy to forget.

i'm not sure how to address the
comments relating to a lack of
punctuation on my part. i've not
been able to find instances of it.

as for any feelings that any readers
got that i was talking down to them,
which seems to be a common complaint:
i'm sorry. i don't intend to come
across that way. many of the comments
are jesting in the same way that friends
joke with each other in that cutting
way.

my best friend in college said my
main fault was that i assumed that
everyone was my best friend. that
is what he meant. i haven't reached
the level of knowing all of you and
vice versa for you to know that it's
meant in a joking way, not an accusatory
one. that's my fault, and i apologize.

as for my obtuseness, well, that's cyd.
ya love it or ya hate it. like a fart:
you either find it offensive or interesting,
but either way, you're not getting rid
of it.

i appreciate those who tried to give me
an easy out, or who tried to defend me,
but the issue isn't my grammar. the
issue is whether the readers want a poster
who is not interested in proving the
length of his PenIs by posting about
overclocking or pr0n, though i admit to
having made a couple of those conformity
posts.

the reason that tipped the scale for my deciding to leave the site, at least as
a poster, was that the things which i
find interesting are not the things that
josh finds interesting.

er, i mean the things that the readers
find interesting. three people posted
an opinion that diversity is good, and
"balancing" or "challenging" for the
site and its readers. a good point,
but the fact remains, that without trying
to sound like a misunderstood, brooding
artist: "they just don't understand me."

that is to say, the things i say are not
worded to take into account the perspective
of someone who does not, in fact, know me
or my life. i don't know how to write
interestingly (read: interesting to me)
from an "objective" perspective. i've
just learned to embrace subjectivity
while knowing full well that it may not
translate. and, of course, i don't know
what is interesting to another a priori.

when i do try to write objectively, it
seems flat and lifeless to me. so, i
think the best thing for me to do is to
take my cydosity with me to found a
different site (when i have the time.)

It makes all your comments read like poetry to me. I try to read it like an extended haiku. It's kinda fun. here try it:

Is that what the issue was? I thought the issue was the poor, besotted fools who dared to think your posts were dumb. Well, let me advance the notion that there are people who think me and Eod's overclocking posts are dumb, too - and they probably don't read the site very long. Problem is, the people who like to read what Eod and I post were here first.

Well, sad to say, I'm one of the poor bastards who didn't like reading your posts on the main page. Not because they were ungrammatical; not because they were confusing; and not because they had alot of random links; because they were embarrassingly elitist and self-congratulatory. I didn't like them because I got tired of explaining to friends and coworkers that you're "not like that in person" (you are). And I didn't like them because I felt they epitomized some of the things Eod and I hated about the e/n community when we started this site (cf. Solosier).

And that's enough bitching and moaning from me. I'm off to go prove the length of my PenIs by posting an article entitled, "Why my l33t 'puter is so much cooler than yours" on a site dedicated to amateur psychotherapy.

Well, I wasn't going to mention it, but when I read the 'apology' I felt the same way. I think I was talking to clme when I mentioned that it was the first time I ever felt apologized to and attacked at the same time . Personally, I just think its the way Cyd writes. I know I have my own writing personality, and I think his just tends to sound that way.
