Wtf? I'm guessing the OS must have already been installed on the HD prior to "assembly"... which makes the whole thing kinda dubious.Alternate answer: if those machines are so blazing-ass fast you can not only assemble them but also INSTALL WINDOWS ON THEM in less than 10 minutes, I FUCKING WANT ONE. No possible way. Just adding hardware would take longer than that. Anyway, giving people a bunch of compatible parts with a preinstalled hd- fuck that. Set them loose in a pc store, then make them find the shit, unwrap it, assemble, install, and then alter their time based on how their work benchmarks. That way you could get a big bonus if you take some time to overclock. That would be a competition. This was just a press gimmick.

"They found that a number of screws were hastily fastened or put into the wrong slots, and the CD audio cable had never been installed. Penalties were assessed: five seconds for each screw and two seconds for the CD cable."Two second penalty for no audio cable? Bullshit! Assuming that particular PC was sent to the user as-is, that omission would result in at least an hour of tech support needed. Seven hours if it's a Gateway. This whole contest reminds me of the rifle assembling scene in Forrest Gump. "God damn it, Gump! Why did you assemble that rifle so fast?!" "Because you told me to, sir!" IP: Logged |
