I contend that it isn’t the major problems or setbacks in life that make us crazy. Rather, it’s those three or four dozen little irritants that pick away at us until we snap. The little things, it’s not the severity it’s the consistency of the onslaught. The little things are akin to insects, take care of one and there’s another dozen, they win by sheer numbers.

- Your friend and kids are over, it’s a hot summer day, the AC is on. The kids can’t seem to make up their minds weather they want to be inside or outside. If I have to say “shut the door please” one more time, I’m going to hurt someone.

- The wife and I resolve (AGAIN) to keep an accurate checking balance this month. Still “WE” i.e. her, don’t understand that POS debits must be also DEDUCTED from the balance. Otherwise, the “balance” is meaningless.

- The left lane is for speeders, get out of the left lane if you do not wish to speed. Please.

- Turn signals are for signaling one’s intent to turn. Are you listening BMW drivers?

- Ever notice that almost all gasoline pumps register 2-3 cents BEFORE the start pumping gas? Watch closely.

- Who the f--- puts gum on the bottom of public restaurant tables? Or for that matter throws it on the ground for others to step in? F-U gum chewers!

- TIP for the day: When you visit someone’s house, DON’T take the last beer, even if they say it’s OK.

- Why do some people have to GALL to exceed the 12 item limit of the express line,
even when you know we are counting. A special F-U to you.

THERE! IT HAD TO BE SAID, SHAPE THE HELL UP OUT THERE!

I used to get so pissed at the parking lot at my (former) college. People in their cars would follow pedestrians out of the building all the way to their parking spots in hopes of not having to walk an extra 50 feet.

So, when I would get stalked, with the bumper of a car always 5 feet behind me, I would cross between cars to the next lane. This didn't daunt them though. With screeching tires and a tap of the horn they would zoom around and get 5 feet behind me again.

What did I do then? I would get in my car, pull out a book, and read a chapter or two before pulling out of the parking spot.

Only once did someone wait me out.

I also occasionally slow down to the speed limit to piss off tailgaters.

I got this in my e-mail today, and felt that I should share it with all of you. this seemed an appropriate place to do so.

A philosophy professor stood before his class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly he picked up a large empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks, rocks about 2" in diameter.

He then asked the students if the jar was full?

They agreed that it was.

So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open areas between the rocks. He then asked the students again if the jar was full.

They agreed it was.

The students laughed. The professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else.

"Now," said the professor, "I want you to recognise that this is your life. The rocks are the important things - your family, your partner, your health, your children - things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, your car. The sand is everything else. The small stuff."

"If you put the sand into the jar first, there is no room for the pebbles or the rocks. The same goes for your life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness."

"Take care of the rocks first - the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

But then................ A student then took the jar which the other students and the professor agreed was full, and proceeded to pour in a glass of beer. Of course the beer filled the remaining spaces within the jar making the jar truly full.

The moral of this tale is:
-no matter how full your life is, there is always room for BEER.

Y'know, I'm usually a pretty mild guy, but when I step on the subway to go to work, I metamorphose into the Chosen Enforcer of Fucking Public Decent Behavior. The rules are:

1. You walk in a normal manner. You do not weave for a better spot. Especially you do not swerve into someone else's (read: my) path and then slow down so that they have to alter their path to avoid you.

2. On the train, there are standing spots, and seats. When someone gets up from a seat, first chance at that seat goes to the person standing in front of that seat. IF that person waits a reasonable 5-10 seconds without sitting down, then the people on either side can duel it out, but males should defer to females, and younger people to older. If you were not standing within a one person width of the seat when the sitter arose, you DO NOT get a chance at the seat until all three of the aforementioned have passed. One time some fucker squeezed in from a mile off to try and snare a seat opening in front of me. Had to twist that sucker plenty.

3. When it's crowded, and everyone is trying to get to a certain spot (the door of the train, the ticket gate), you move WITH the flow. You do not try to push and move faster than the flow.

4. Earphones go in the ears. They do not dangle about yout collar when they are emitting music. Additionally, although I will permit earphone music loud enough to be heard by your copassengers, if we can make out the song and the individual lyrics there will be trouble.

5. Shut the fuck up. If you have a friend with you, talk only as loud as you need to to be heard by someone less than two feet away. Talk facing towards the person to whom you are speaking.

Punishment for violation of these rules may include being leaned against, being bumped or jostled, having your ankles kicked into each other while you are walking, having elbows poked into you, or having me purposely obstruct your path in such a way that it seems nonchalant.

Dismissed.

Fenomas, gaijin defender of the wa!

I'm the same way. I particularly enjoy it when I'm in an amusement park or someplace else typically full of eurotrash and time after time, skinny little 140-160# fuckers with fannypacks attempt to walk directly into someone 40-60# heavier than they are.

::thump::

Except, that is, when I have a girlfriend with me. Then, it pisses me off - at best, I have to try to be nice because I don't wanna be all confrontational when I'm trying to have a nice day with my girlfriend, and at worst, I get insanely pissed when the same worthless little fuckers try to run HER over.

Bah.

i have fun in public with things like this

1) in a subway when there is the mad rush for the door, im the guy listening to music (headphones on ears though) i just stand there and slowly walk, im in no rush.

2) while driving if someone tailgates me i slow down and pull over a bit to let them pass then i proceed to follow about 3 feet behind them then pass them.

3) i am the guy who drives along side jeep wranglers on the interstate and stairs at them insanely and jerks my while wildly when they look back.. then laugh when they struggle to keep control.

4) i enjoy walking around with a camera in the city and taking pictures of punkers and grunge kids and busy people in suits that are in a rush,

5)i try waaayyy to hard to strike conversation to random business people on the street whowalk fast and seem to be late. i ask many questions.

6)i listen to music in stores in line at the cash and when its my turn i space out and pretend i cant hear the cashier but refuse to remove my headphones.

im an ass but its a great laugh

and that rhymes

and knowing is half the battle

I like to be the bitch who, when I see a speeder behind me, try to stay even with the car beside me just to piss the speeder off.

I am also the bitch who laughs at the pissed of customer (loud enough for them to hear me.)

I am the contrary bitch. Don't tell me to do something when you're mad, cause i'll just do the opposite.

So true.. Home from work, 8:30am, seems like a fine time for a beer. Or two. Of course, to make it feel more like breakfast, I have my citrus in the form of a lemon wedge.

Hey! What a GREAT idea! Why let someone just drive somewhat faster than the posted limit when instead, by simply making a persistent nuisance of yourself, you could provoke them to reckless actions with more than a ton of metal vehicle, thereby endangering yourself and everyone else on the road SEVERAL ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE more than previously?

Eh, Jimbo... you have a point there. Still, I am unafraid of pain, I know I'll heal. Then I'll be the Bitch who sues... But, there is that person beside me to think of.
Damn, gotta rethink my bitchy strategy...

If you really think they're driving dangerously fast, then get out of the way, read their plate number, and use a cell phone to narc 'em to 911.

Otherwise, just leave 'em alone.

Incidentally, cops themselves will tell you exactly the same thing - in fact, a few months ago there was a letter to the editor in the Charleston paper from the sheriff saying precisely that.

i'm kind of a big guy. i used to be bigger, but then i got lazy and stopped eating as much (note to fat people: EAT FUCKING LESS FOOD!). whenever i'm in a crowded place and there's someone in front of me who is clearly going slower than the flow, i end up pushing them aside. it *really* pisses me off when i'm trying to walk through a hallway in the math building at school to get to class and the entire width of the hallway is blocked by 5 or 6 fucking 'tard girls who cant seem to figure out how to put one foot in front of the other. i outweigh them by a good hundred pounds, so it really isnt too much trouble to just walk through them and not notice.

mostly though, i try to be mellow and dont push people out of my way. it's not as fun to be pushy when you *know* that you can be. damn double edged swords.

In keeping with the subway idea:

Concerning elevators and subways- let people OFF before you try to get on! It's NOT going to leave without you! It will be okay!!!

uhh, subways leave all the time without people. the reason people push onto the subway is that they fear that little ding-ding-dong sound like the apocolypse. i mean, god forbid you miss the train. you'll have to wait another whole 3 minutes for the next one! oh no! you'll be late for work. you'll get fired. you wont be able to pay your mortgage. your kids will turn to crime and drugs. you'll be forced to sell your body on the streets for crack cocaine. and then one day you'll see some up and coming go-getter (or bed-wetter) mis his train, and you'll laugh at him.

but if your standing right outside the ****ing door you don't need to push your way in- you're not going to get in until you let people out anyway
