The standard tags (Neophyte Pen, PenIs, etc.) change based on your number of posts. Everything else is a custom hack by one of the moderators. If this were SA, that little gem would have cost you $20.IP: Logged |

Hahaha, SomethingAwful is selling forum titles? How... capitalistic.  I wrote a version of my title hack that bestows titles for a set period of time and then auto-disables them, for use on boards that allow members to "contribute" to the board (and thus get a bronze/silver/gold "contributor" tag on their name in the forum), but I never thought anybody'd really be retarded enough to pay $20 just to have a 31337 cu5t0m t1tl3 by their name - I mean fuck, if you PAID for it how 1337 can it really be? Not only that, but you can also pay to hack someone else's. You can also pay to make yourself hack-proof as a defense. Kind of like the caller ID/anonymous caller/disable anonymous caller triage of scams the phone company does. Just out of curiosity, when you own (or moderate) a UBB, must you be incredibly 1337 to h4XX0r yourself (or others, for that matter) a title? Or is it relatively simple?IP: Logged |

You can either be really 1337 and write your own CGI modifications to the UBB itself to allow you to use custom titles, or you can be semi-1337 and install a packaged of such modifications that somebody else wrote.When it comes to the UBB, I don't know of any title hacks other than mine... as far as I know, I'm the first and only one to make a custom title hack for UBB. (Later high-end (non-UBB) forum scripts from InfoPop come with title configuration stuff built in, as do a few high-end forums made by other folks.) IP: Logged |
