Don't register your domain with register.com - they have an ungodly tendency to just quit responding to you, leaving you stuck without a domain if you ever try to change webhosts.

Register the domain with www.networksolutions.com - pick "Crypt-Password" as your authentication scheme - and DON'T FORGET THE FUCKING PASSWORD.
