You tell me. I saw a corpse in the middle of the road coming home from Boston the other day. I didn't feel bad, I didn't feel upset, I didn't feel anything but laughter. I almost said "Played!" but I didn't, in stead, while everyone else in the car was saying "Oh my god" I was saying "At least it wasn't some stupid thing causing all this traffic, this is the highlight of my day."

Shouldn't I have felt SOMETHING?

Did you jump out of the car with your Rocket Propelled Grenade Luancher and blow up the cars causing the traffic jam?

Thats what I would have done.

Obviously video games and violent movies have caused an apathy so severe in this poor boy that the site of a fellow traveler struck down on this highway we call life creates no cry for sympathy or hope that he's at a better place where there's free flowing wine and an end to run on sentences because we all know that run on sentences are the tool of the devil.

I think that online pr0n has desensitized me to that S&M/lolita/scat/horse porn. It doesn't turn me on gross me out anymore.

Yes, desensitised, but it's not your fault. It's TV and movies.
I also would have been nonchalant about a corpse in the road, however, I would have been squeamish if it had been a live person with blood all over them and many cuts or broken stuff.

This world is filled with billions of potential corpses. Save your emotions for the ones you know personally.

The TV theory has some merit. Anybody remember that wedding reception/collapsing floor/dozens dead thing a while back? It was like the networks were having a contest to see who could show the home video clip of people plummeting to their doom the most times. The first time was shocking, but by the tenth or twelfth viewing I didn't give a shit anymore.

There was also the front page headline "Arms and Legs Raining Down Everywhere!" on USA Today last week, a quote from a witness to one of the recent Israel bombings (which I am years beyond sympathy for). Even I can recall a time when "Arms and Legs Raining Down Everywhere!" would be considered too graphic for publication; not to mention the fact that it doesn't advance the story at all.

Besides, with a name like Demon-of-Elru... well....

AND... you might be a sick puppy (like myself) who enjoys looking at Rotten.com on a weekly basis... well, to tell the truth, I look EVERY DAY at that Today In Rotten History thingy.

I am curious about one thing... was the corpse by itself, or were there medical and/or law enforcement personnel around?

Hell, the first time I saw it I thought it was awesome. That's what they get for shitty/no building codes.
