...and got laughed at by clme and eod. Well, screw you guys!Anyway, here are my first impressions:
I installed it on my work-laptop (P2-366, 192Mb RAM) running NT4 with SP6. Page rendering seems a bit faster (highly subjective) and there are some new security/cookie/privacy options.
Apart from that, no special new features (well, the IE-icon is REALLY spiffy and XP-y now) seem to be added, which was expected. I won't install it on my home systems for a few weeks though. Did anyone else install it? IP: Logged |

Man I love this T1 connection. Except for when it starts downloading simple 4mb files at 1.13k/sec. Stupid piece of crap! It usualy runs 100k+ at LEAST. I was running the "trial" version of 6 earlier but am downloading the "real" thing now. At work of course. No way I'm doing it at home yet.------------------

yea, I guess I "UPGRADED" what choice do we have?
The additional cookie controls (of individual sites) may be handy, more security
options, whatever.In comparison, netscape 6.0 is a pig due to the lack of OS integration. f-ing MS.

Got it at home.., finally. I really don't know why you all scared like that. I never had problems updating any version of IE.You all turned into pussies or something? I like the features where you can lock the toolbars, and the iconthingy's when viewing a jpg. Great for collecting the pr0n. Haven't seen any improvements.. It's people like you who hackers prey upon. Thingies? Why not learn the proper name for it? The reason we've all become "pussies" are for instances like when XP was released as a beta, if it was hooked up to certain Cisco routers it took down the whole network. They are called bugs and we don't want them fucking up our systems.------------------

Get your facts straight crosseyeddonkey.It was a bug in an older Cisco IOS version used in Catalyst 5000/5500 switches that forwarded ALL incoming 802.1x frames on ALL ports including spanning tree blocking ports, resulting in a layer 2 multicast storm.
That's Cisco's fault, not MS's.

I'm running IE6 beta something. I have no clue why. It crashes a lot. I'm usually smarter than installing this kind of crap. Anyway, there are new features. Several infact (mostly tied to media player in some way). They all crash IE though so I don't have any details. Oh, and it seems a bit quicker too. IP: Logged |

The reason I'm not installing IE6 is because it's so fucking hard to downgrade to a previous version of IE once you've installed a higher one. By "hard," I mean that I haven't found a way of doing it. And it certainly won't let you run several versions at once, which makes it really easy to test your webpages on various browsers.. grumble.IP: Logged |

I appologize for my ignorance in that issue, I was told and under the impression that it was a discrepencie between something in XP and certain configurations in Cisco routers. Version 6.0.26 crashes as well.

No crashes here.
The helpdesk here installed it on a couple of machines and they report no crashes either.
I hear a lot of complaints that IE6 upgrades Windows Media Player to version 7.x, which is of course horrible. The weird thing is that my version is still good ol' 6.4.07.1116. Maybe this only happens with ME/Win2k. Can anyone verify this?IP: Logged |
