To try not to think about the events of the past couple of days, I went to Borders books to purchase a book to take my mind off of this shit. The book that I selected was Rainbow Six by Tom Clancy. So I settle down on the futon in my room, crack open to the first chapter and to my horror, the first chapter proceeds as follows: Arab terrorists hijack a jet liner and steer it in the direction of the capital building in washington dc, and smashing into it, killing nearly the entire us government. I got a single page into it and decided to return the book Me and my "bright" ideas ------------------ Fun Fact: If you laid all the stupid people end to end around the world, 75% of them would drown. That wouldn't be such a bad thing, now would it? IP: Logged |

The kind of sound I'm making right now:You know when you're watching a nascar race, football game, or hockey game. And, a car gets crushed, flips three times, and explodes? Or, a football player gets hit by two guys running in opposite directions. Or a hockey player gets checked so hard his helmet flies off, and he goes through the boards? Yeah, that... hissing followed by and ohhhh sound. That's the one I'm making. That's rough dude. IP: Logged |

[QUOTE] Arab terrorists hijack a jet liner and steer it in the direction of the capital building in washington dc, and smashing into it, killing nearly the entire us government. [QUOTE]I read the series a couple years ago. In the next book, the terrorists release an extra crispy strain of the ebola virus on the US. Everybody ready for round two? Of course, in that series, our honest, compassionate hero is a Republican- so how predictive can it REALLY be? IP: Logged |

More fucked up information:So Tuesday night I open winamp. I have all my songs enqueued, and set on random. I press "Play." "New York, New York" comes on. I'm disgusted, and hit next. "99 Red Balloons" comes on. I think of the line near the end of the song "In this dust that was a city..." I'm disgusted again, and hit next. "Leaving on a Jet Plane" comes on. At this point I'm creeped out, hit stop, and go downstairs. IP: Logged |

MrSelfDestruct: You're talking about Debt Of Honour, and Executive Orders. And it was a Japanese Pilot who crashed the State of the Nation Address in Washington. Debt Of Honour ended with the pilot doing the act, and Executive Orders started with the aftermath. Rainbow Six was actually about the formation of a NATO-based anti-terrorist group in Europe. The first chapter was about Basque Sepratists wanting to hijack a plane and take it to the Azores because a spanish ambasador was (supposedly) on board. Three of the members of Rainbow were onboard and subdued the idiots. Joshy: The order of books was actually: Sum Of All Fears Debt Of Honour Executive Orders Rainbow Six The Dragon And The Bear
Clancy addict? Guilty as charged.

hussain, you forgot hunt for red october, patriot games, clear and present danger, and the one about Clark's past. i think it was called Without Remorse.then there's Kardinal of the Kremlin, but i'm not sure where that fits in. there's also S.S.N. and Red Storm Rising, which sucked. and there's all of those net-force and op-center books which i refuse to read IP: Logged |

I confess to reading the first op-center. It wasnt that bad. But I'm not going to kid myself that its successors were any better.IP: Logged |

My bad, Due to bad judgement, I posted after a bout with Jack Daniels (JD is my Budy, eh clme??) I was thinking about the game rainbow six and the book Executive Orders. Please excuse my drunkenness. I know that it is hard to believe, but I am a huge Clancy fan, here are all the books that i own (in chronological order) Without Remorse Patriot Games Hunt for Red October Cardinal in the Kremlin Clear and Present Danger The Sum of all Fears Executive Orders Red Storm Rising (Doesn't have any of usual characters, but it is still my favorite) Non-Fiction Eye of the Tiger SSN That about does it, I kinda stopped reading his stuff when I came college, now all I read about is conformational structures of proteins and pharmacology shit [This message has been edited by MrSelfdestruct (edited 09-14-2001).] IP: Logged |

Whoopise, Zippy, i stand corrected about the order, I keep thinking about Clancy in chronological order. Much like MrSelfdestruct. As for the books that I "missed" well, I just didn't list them because it wasn't relevant to the discussion. Redstorm rising was actually the best novel, besides the bear and the dragon, that i've read, because it gives a good summary of the order of battle for the former Soviet Union. Without Remorse was really disturbing but at the same time quite engrossing.I've read all of the actual Clancy books, not the ones which were co-written by the skill-less hacks which can't get a bookdeal without Clancy.
