But the Taleban isn't supporting Bin Laden in any other way apart from refuge and somewhere to centre a power base. You say in not doing anything the Taleban are just as guilty. But in the US the government is not doing anything, doesn't that make them just as bad? Ben IP: Logged |

*SI-MOTHERFUCKING-IGH* "Any other way apart from refuge and somewhere to centre a power base" is not considered state-sponsered to you? I think you're failing to see the main difference here --- without bin Laden, heir to an estimated $300 million dollars, the Taliban would be piss-poor. He's in Afghanastan as a "guest" and pays "rent" to the Taliban. The average GDP per capita in Afghanastan is $800 American. Do you know how valueable a man such as bin Laden is in a country like that? He can basically sustain the economy all on his own --- especially since Afghanastan's main export --- opium --- is no longer the cash crop it once was since its major buyers, Pakistan and Iran, have told them to stop making it. He is vital to their economic interests. The Taliban knows he's there. They know he's been under indictment by the US Government for years for various charges stemming from other terrorist attacks. The main difference is --- we do not rely on IRA supporters as a prop-up for the economy. We do not allow known criminals in our country to have safe refuge if we can at all help it. They, on the other hand, do. Is it crystal for you yet? Boy do I need one of them double-headed black dildos. Clme? Got a spare? ------------------ Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? IP: Logged |

Not to risk incurring Mon's wrath, but I'm starting to agree with B3n. The more I hear about the state of Afghanistan, the more it sounds like carpet bombing to kill /bin/laden would be like going after the Gotti syndicate by walking around New York shooting homeless people. IP: Logged |

Carpetbombing IS a bad idea, and WON'T kill either Bin Laden or the Taliban. That's why, painful as it is, I keep talking about ground assault. And to be perfectly honest with you, if I had to pick between Bin Laden or the government that supported him, I'd take out the government without thinking twice about the decision. We'll never be able to get rid of every lunatic on jihad. We CAN, however, make the GOVERNMENTS in those areas realize it's in their best interest to contain the sons-of-goats as much as possible. Without a safe haven in a country where the government supports him, Bin Laden's no more dangerous to us than a Mafia don is to Afghanistan. TAKE OUT THE TALIBAN... get Bin Laden if you can.
