Marcel,

I can ask for restitution but there is no guarantee I will get any of it awarded to me. According to the nice lady in the DA's office, this case will take 8 months to a year to be settled. THEN he has 2 years to make the restitution payments. So if I miss work now, it could be three years before I see the lousy several hundred dollars I'm losing.

This is why I have to go to work even though my back is fucking KILLING me. I tried to go to the farmer's market today. By the end of walking 8 blocks, I was hobbling like a little old lady and in tears. Now I am praying the mediocre little drugs the urgent care doc gave me will kick in soon so I can sleep. I can't sit, stand or walk comfortably. I can't lift anything. I'm scared to bend over because I might throw my back out. And forget about snugglebunnies.

Look, regarding drug laws.. if you stay at home and don't cause trouble, I don't care if you lose a few brain cells.

But if you plant your ass in a driver's seat instead of that laz-e-boy, you deserve prison. Not jail, not probation. Because you might get lucky once and hit a telephone pole, or maybe just weave around in oncoming lanes a bit. But you could also hit another car, a kid, a house and someone could be hurt or killed. If you DO hurt or kill someone, the punishment should be even worse. But reckless endangerment of other lives deserves some major punishement.

And to me, a few months of work release while living in the county jail is not an adequate substitute. This ass probably doesn't have a job and now the county is going to find him one. Great.

Why don't we give some of the over 3 billion dollars that we spend keeping the drug industry alive...er...at bay, that is, to Clme's car fund?

And why should we spend time on making hard crimes have hard sentences? There's no profit there. Think of all of the items that are blatently stolen because marijuana related crimes happened in their vacinity? These things are sold. Think of all the tax money that the concerned parents are willing to pay in order to help keep their kids off the pot?

- The amount of money that it takes to keep potheads in jail is less than the amount of money that industry provides the government.

- The amount of money it costs to keep a rapist in jail is never returned.
