Some professors react differently. Some will joke and continue on, others will fucking flip out. Most professors outline their rules in the course syllabus for cellphones.

Normally I see the same people, from other classes I've had with them be the repeat offender. Like Clunky Shoe Girl, I've had her in so many god damn classes, I assume she passes them all by sucking dick because there isn't much going on in that head of hers. Clunky Shoe Girl (aside from always wearing loud clunky shoes), comes to class late, gets up about 4 times during class, giggles, laughes, and leaves early. She always makes sure that she disrupts the class constantly and in every class I've had with her, her cellphone rings some stupid song and she always answers it.

people who leave their cell phones on in class should be shot

people who answer the cell phones in class should be shot multiple times in non-vital places

people who leave cell phone on in theaters should be dragged into the street and shot as to not interrupt my movie

I also take a class where it is guaranteed that at least four phones with really obnoxious musical rings will go off in someone's purse during the talk. Each time a table of women will sit around looking at each other trying to figure out who owns the ringing phone and then someone will scrabble in their bag, grab the phone and answer it right there. Then they scurry out into the hallway to finish the call. There are 130 people sitting at tables in a crowded room so you can imagine that this is just a tad obvious.

We get a break every two hours. WHY IS IT SO HARD TO LET VOICE MAIL ANSWER?? God. Before cell phones, you'd wait 8 hours to get a message when you got home. Why is it so urgent to take a call right then and there?

Grr. I say anal rape with the offending phone (antenna must be extended where applicable) for all violators.
