don't be so sure, lots of consoles have problems when they first come out. after all I remember the playstation 2 had some problems when it first came out in japan, i think it had something to do with playing dvds.these problems usually are less then 100 units and tend to be fixed within a week or 2 after the launch. besides if you console ends up having these problems you should be able to get your money back or get a replacement (though getting the replacement may take a while) later trey ------------------ crazy ass dutchmen IP: Logged |

Yeah.. um, can't think of any right off hand. The Japanese ps2 launch's only trouble was that the initial version played all dvd's, instead of only those licensed for Asia. Yer right about replacements, but.. Well, You can get replacements and patches and upgrades for every MS product ever made, but there hasn't been one yet as stable as my PS/PS2, neither of which has ever crashed, ever. IP: Logged |

There was a bigger problem than just region encoding, the units would just spontaneously LOSE the DVD playing software, and need to be re-installed via a memory card or some such nonsense...Not exactly high quality...I dunno. I'm not much of a console person. I like to tinker too much without having to worry about my damn warranty. ------------------ -FlashDim http://www.4fdarrow.com AIM: GigManrow/FlashDim Addition note: I think the DVD software would be "lost" after playing GT2 or something. I'm too lazy to research it, really. [This message has been edited by Flashdim (edited 10-25-2001).] IP: Logged |
