Looks like the US backed thugs have the upper hand for the moment.Theory One: The US is ripping the shit out of retreating Taliban Forces but the governmanr is keeping quiet about it so as not to incite the Muslem world with sense of slaughter and carnage. Theory Two: There are no big columns to pound Desert Storm fashion as the Taliban are for the most part not organized into taditional units. So when the Taliban decide to retreat each one jumps on his faithful goat and they all ride off in a thousand different directions. It would appear that once again the world has underestimated the intense physical/psychological damage inflicted by US and Allied air power. Remember the objectives of this war: to destroy the taliban's support of terrorist networks. This appears to be happening. But, if you read up on the 'Northern Alliance' you'll find that they've always supported terrorist groups and their list of atrocities is actually worse than the Taliban. The only thing that the NA does is NOT fuck with people outside afghanistan. And the are not 'allied' very well. IP: Logged |

Uh, yeah. So how long did the Afghans hold their cities against the Soviets? How long did it take the Reds to run them all down on their various goats before all them towel-heads were brought into the glorious and brotherly love of Communism? Of course, we don't really want their land; we'll just kill a bunch of them, put a pupet government in power, and leave some "Advisors" to keep things quiet. Oh wait, that was the Soviet plan too... Panama Nicaragua Iran Cuba Iraq Yugoslavia Viet Nam Libya Somalia Lebanon Hell, ya, our record ROCKS! The world cowers before our 1337 p0VV3rz.

Um... I caught the sarcasm in that "our record rocks" comment...And how much of the world really cares (or knows) about pre WWII history anyway? After all, would history keep repeating itself if anyone actually studied it? *sigh* [This message has been edited by Clme (edited 11-13-2001).] IP: Logged |

History suggests that it would. IP: Logged |
