The answer, my friend, is yes. A very good fuck. I have been comtemplating over a Geforce3 and an ATI Radeon 64DDR w/ViV0. I decided to go with the ATI for price and the bench marks didn't look that different, even better in some games.I bought it about 2 months ago, and all was well. UT ran maxxed out without a hitch! Very smooth. Half-life? NO PROBLEM. QIII? VERY NICE. Now, I installed tribes 2. HOLY SHIT. I had to pull everything back to mid-low quality to achive 25FPS. Ya, but thats just one game!!! Well, my friend has a geforce3 and same system specs and can run T2 MAXXED OUT with about 40-50fps. I am afraid that most of the new games that will be coming out will be as hardware demanding as T2, if not more. (Yes, I have tweaked and overcrocked it.) Feel free to argue with me, but I think I am now am NVidia fan. SOMEONE PLEASE DEFEND ATI!!! IP: Logged |

well ATI has less letters in it, so it is easier to remember, and Nvidia is kind of hard to spell and pronounce. It should be nividia, but they take out the "I" to confuse people who contemplate too hard on the subject.Oh yeah and those who have ran parties with 3 people only deserve to have ATI or Voodoo5 (which is like $80 or something) IP: Logged |

dood shut the hell up, I guess now is the time where I explain WHY my last event only had 5 peeps. Well first of all, I didn't realize it was thanksgiving weekend when I posted the date. Second, I just moved here and really do not know too many people yet. Third, I had about 12-14 people sign up, I am not sure what happened to everyone. That is my story. And the 64DDR at the time was not $88, it was $200.

Bah, that's not your card, that's Tribes 2!I've been a dedicated Tribes player for years (as in, never even SEEN Q3), and eagerly waited for my local EB to open so I could pick up T2 on the release day. Took me 3 months to get it working, and I still don't like it as much as T1. The new features are cool, but the physics are wonkey, and there are too many bugs. The entire Dynamix staff got their asses canned a couple weeks after the POS came out, so the only bug hunting going on is volunteer work. Meanwhile everyone who is into Tribes is split between the two versions, with the old one being too well hacked for fair league play, and the new one not being stable enough. My Tribe went from 5 servers and 15 active players to pretty much dead in two months. But I'm not bitter, oh no. While my computer's collecting dust, I've rediscovered reading and girls. ------------------ What may sound to some like anger is really nothing more than sympathetic contempt. - George Carlin IP: Logged |

I realize that T2 has a lot of bugs, as it took me a few shots to get it going as well, what kind if video card do you have? My problem is that once I get through all of the bugs, my framerate sucks. I don't have any other games as demanding as T2, so it is hard to compare my video card with anything else, except 3dbench, which i happen to rate very poorly compared to geforce3 users. =(IP: Logged |

I am a sold Nvidia customer for my last four cards and this is why:Drivers. Nvidia has THE best gfx card driver team on the planet. My boss was bitching about upgrading his year-old ATI All-in-Wonder card to Win2k when it first came out. I had solid drivers for my TNT (not TNT2, TNT) by Beta 3. They still support the Riva128 fer chrissake! One stop shopping for all their cards, no matter what the OS, I run UT under Linux and can't tell the difference from Windows. Except I haven't rebooted in two months. Long term support and OS freedom. Nvidia just owns. IP: Logged |
