Hey all...Do you guys remember the Chris "Christmas" Rodriguez stuff/thread from about 6 months ago? To refresh people's memories: http://www.penismightier.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/000277.html I've still only found 3 movies on the net: http://www.edmontonultimate.org/Movies.htm I especially like the 2nd one. (It's the arrows that really top it off.) They all rock, though. But I have thought about sending out Chris Rodriguez xmas cards from the site... heh heh... http://www.scarletblack.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/portfolio/mother/index.html Anyone else remember all this? Arrgh...the original site shows that there were about a dozen original movies, and the three linked above are all I can find...even the great Morpheus has failed me. Maybe I should have taken the blue pill... ------------------ Another thread killed by MightyMon. IP: Logged |

Yep. Priz = Prisoner (who's too lazy to remember his password for this bbs) = askpris.com. why? Do I have to tell that story from high school again? or the story of when I went to work for Sun? Or do you remember me for h00king people up with anime/games/videos on the efnet channel? -Priz

Crazy Taxi: yep. I STILL get e-mails asking me how to buy a CT coinop from people, and when I tell them the price, they just ignore it and e-mail me again saying they want a upright or sitdown (I guess they get more specific as it'll be somehow a fraction of the $3300) heh. The real askpris.com thing is much more. It doesn't make sense to most people because you've never experienced it in person. You have to try it on IRC. That page is mainly a placeholder until I get around to putting up the rest of the stuff. The joke is tied to askjeeves.com. Holy crap you're good. You should IPO askpriz.com, you could kick jeeves's ass!(I did originally register askpriz.com from another service, but they went under and still hold the domain. I thought it sounded better but what can you do?) Also, as a close friend of the guys who were the first to subtitle Bubble Gum Crisis back in late '88 (Group Santa Cruz) and being the first person to fansub Bubble Gum Crisis 6 in Jan. '90, I can honestly say that my nick is short for Prisoner (from the british tv series - http://www.retroweb.com/prisoner.html ) and not Priss. I've done a lot of work on British TV in the past, and over the last year, tried to bring 2 british shows to the US (an old old friend who I used to trade Dr. Who and other crap back in '85-87 (how I got into anime back then) who was responsible for bringing Blake's 7 to the US now works at the station responsible for picking up all this stuff.) with the help of some friends. Just another side project of mine under the "askpris.com" label. IP: Logged |

Well, it was more like, "Crap, I thought you were dead!" Why? I don't know. It was odd because I was fucking around on IRC the other day and had this sudden flashback to like the 2nd and final time I was in #penismightier on efnet but couldn't find a goddamn efnet server to get in on, and you, via shelly, told me to get on through irc.prisoner.net or some such, and it worked. So it was always kinda like, "dude, he's got his own personal efnet server...ownij." Oh, and I don't remember you hooking people up with anime/games/videos from efnet, but you could conveniently refresh my memory... Hmm, wonder if that'll show up. the quote was eaten by the dual brackets like most irc clients (and made me sound like I was talking to myself). And now... instead of just wasting space, another amusing story about my nick. Back in high school (in '89), one of the stoners in one of my classes saw I used the nick and said "whoa... there's an Iron Maiden song called "the Prisoner"!" I asked him "oh really? Have you seen the TV series?" He then responded "Oh wow... they made a TV series based off the song?" True Story. You can't make this stuff up.

Prisoner: Who are you? Number 2: The new Number Two. Prisoner: Who is Number One? Number 2: You are Number Six! Prisoner: I am not a number! I am a free man! Number 2: (laughs)Although I personally believe Number 2 is saying "You are, number 6." i.e. telling number 6 that he is number 1. "I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, de-briefed, or numbered!"

Heh.. I was watching the "homer makes a webpage" episode of the simpsons the other day, and I nearly laughed my nuts off. "Why did you think a big baloon would be good security?" "Shut up! That's why!"Oh well. Six of one, half dozen of the other, eh? Be seeing you. Dave said: Although I personally believe Number 2 is saying "You are, number 6." i.e. telling number 6 that he is number 1. Yeah, sounds reasonable. Did you see the final episode? Oh, like your new title? Priz- Ok, so what's the next big anime on its way over? Did you see "Spirited Away" yet? IP: Logged |

questions are a burden. (to be more in depth: yes, it's one of my favorite of the 17; and thanks to whoever's responsible for that little bit of titular humor.) an aside, but an interesting aside, re: balloons as security in the village some of my favourite effects or gags in movies are those that are necessitated by small budget and/or logistical reasons, e.g. the balloons as security instead of the VW Bugs they originally planned on using (they kept sinking) or Monty Python's Holy Grail and the coconut halves instead of horses (they couldn't afford any real horses.) ------------------ "On a scale of 1 to 10, I'm soooo drunk." Ah, great stuff. Such a classic series. I need to get the rest of the dvd sets. (I have "the Arrival" on laserdisc, dvd, vhs and betamax. All commercial copies, too.) As far as big anime series go, I'd have to say the two biggest things you'll hear about coming here are the Cowboy Bebop movie "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" ( http://www.cowboybebop.com/english/door/movie/index.html - which will be released theatrically by Columbia Tri-star. If they keep it subbed, that'll rock even more. I like it more than the series overall.) and "Read or Die" ( http://www.sonymusic.co.jp/Animation/ROD/flags/flags_1.html - an OAV series which is visually stunning and has a neat storyline/chracters. Extremely high budget stuff - it's been in the works for 3 years and the budget is 5 times what a normal oav would cost to make. The quality reflects that, too.) Oh, and the other tv series I like so far is "Hellsing" ( http://www.hellsing.net/ ) by Pioneer, featuring music by early 90's american rock group "Mr. Big". It's sort of a cross between Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (Alucard is the main character in the show), Resident Evil, and Trigun without the comedy. I haven't seen the new Miyazaki flick, but a friend who fansubbed 2 gainax series (Ebichu & karekano and might do some work on the commercial karekano releases) saw it in Japan on his birthday and said it was good but wondered what they were smoking when they made it. You should check out Ebichu ( http://www.gainax.co.jp/anime/awaawa/ebichu/index-e.html ). Funny as hell. If you know where to look, you can get almost all the new shows airing in Japan for download within 12 hours of their broadcast there. Lots of neat stuff these days. If you like British stuff, I suggest "Black Books" on Comedy Central and whenever those f4g0tz at Bravo get off their ass and show it, "SPACED". ( http://www.spaced-out.org.uk - like the old show Ned and Stacey, except the guy in the "couple" works at a comic book shop as well as draws his own comics so there's tons of videogame/anime/sci-fi movie references and in jokes.)

Okay, Mr. I-haven't-read-the-faq. But I usually get Japanese tv at more or less the same time as its broadcast. If my tv is on, I mean. Comedy central and Bravo, on the other hand, I have no access to whatsoever. Not that I'm much of an anime/manga fan. Evre read this? Still, you should check "Sen to chihiro no kamikakushi", as it is, in my opinion, measurably better than mononoke, which I also liked. It (sen) has a five-second drippy-happy bit at the end, that was probably forced on miyazaki after the dark ending of mononoke, but it is altogether him at his best. It also eclipsed titanic some months ago as the highest-grossing JP movie ever, so that's alright. fen
