I have plenty of books, but I've read most of them (except for a huuuge stack of Phillip K Dick books I traded for a bass amp once -- it's at least 20 books and i've read, oh let's err on the side of generosity and say, 7.

Right now I'm about an hour away from finishing Frank McCourt's "'Tis" (super fucking great) and at work I'm slowly going through a .PDF I have of Tolkien's LOTR (including The Hobbit and all three volumes of LOTR & the maps and covers and stuff, it's super nice to have at work. If you want a copy, email me, or find it on Morpheus. It's like 14 megs.)

In recent months I've read:

- Watchmen by Alan Moore
this was a lot better than I thought it would be. I'm not a big comics fan, but on the strength of 'from hell' (no, i haven't seen the movie; don't plan on it either,) I picked this up. Interview with Moore @ The Onion

- Hitchhiker's Guide (everything except the cynical fetid piece of shit that is "Mostly Harmless"). /. recently-ish had an article about a recently-found (and published-online) short story of Adams' (about Attila the Hun) and I had to pick this up again.) Another Onion feature on DNA

- Running Linux (O'Reilly book), more because I have to rather than because I want to, though.

- Faust by Count Eric Stenbock
This was more because I'm a pretty big fan of this band, Current 93, and one of their last CDs was an ambient noisescape-thing packaged with a short story (a really surreal version of 'faust' by CES, above,) which is afantastic short story.

- Girlfriend In A Coma by Douglas Coupland -- i really liked Microserfs, and since I am a big Smiths fan, this was the next obvious step. here's a chapter in Japanese and here's a summary in english.

Funny thing about that book, I've read the whole series and they are one of my fav books, but back in cleveland, where i just moved from, a man named Zaphod Beeblebrox lives. I swear to god, ask anyone to look in a cleveland phonebook. A few weeks ago my friend matt and I got up enough courage to call him up. (He was doing the talking) Matt said "Can I talk to Zaphod Beeblebox" and the guy said back "This is zaphod". He then proceeded to ask him if he was really zaphod beeblebrox, he said "Ya" and hung up.
It almost seems like he changed his name to it or something. At first I thought it was a joke in the phonebook, now I am not sure.

you might also like "Jihad Vs. McWorld" (i forget the author's name, some generic anglo-american name like peterson or smith or wilson) and if you're going to do the counter-culture thing (not to label, but that's the section of borders I found those books in (I still love that borders, a national chain, has a section for that,)) you might also like "Fast Food" (forget the author, but it's all about...wait for it...fast food. the cover picture is of cardboard container of fries.

oh, i've lost my copy of "culture jam" -- is that henry rollins on the cover?
