it will be a good thing when people, lots of them, see that secure doesn't have to mean .NET servers. (not that i think .NET servers will be secure, but that's another argument.)

linux is pretty secure (although probably not as secure as OpenBSD,) and since you have the source most everything on the system (unless you choose to use non-free programs,) you can actually check this yourself, and you don't have to take someone else's word for it. (an aside to state that i think that whether you check or not is irrelevant, you shouldn't have to take someone's word for it. the fact that you can check in linux and not MS says most everything, i think.)

and again, with the sources, you can make some pretty serious changes to the OS for whatever purposes you have.

and yes, AOLinux will probably suck ass (if it ever exists,) but what it loses in power it will more than likely gain in ease of use. the first few times i set up X were no picnic (and i'm still not comfortable doing it.) Mandrake would probably be the best choice for AOL, since it's already a pretty good intro to linux for newbies, but they're looking for serious consideration in their fight against MS, and that's RH. Be would probably have been the ideal choice, since you could install and start the OS from windows itself, via an icon on the desktop or a menu item. too bad Be was so far from finished, since what there was of it kicked serious ass.
