I stopped listening to pantera after "far beyond driven" (still my favorite of theirs, much better than 'vulgar display' imo). you might like mid-period ministry ("land of rape and honey", "in case you didn't feel like showing up: LIVE", "the mind is a terrible thing to taste" and "psalm 69") -- especially check out the remixes from the psalm album, their work with William S. Burroughs is very cool. You might also like GODFLESH. check out "streetcleaner" for older stuff and "songs of love and hate" for 'newer' stuff or their best of compilation "in all languages".i personally find power electronics to be way way way more aggressive than anything in 'industrial' or 'rock' genres -- but most of it is very unlistenable. Merzbow is quite possibly the best example of this. It is music made to intentionally damage (you, your speakers, everything it comes in contact with.) download some (at a high bitrate) and play it REALLY REALLY REALLY loud and you'll see what I mean. my favorite radiohead album is still 'the bends' (although OK computer is very good.) everything else is just pretty good, with pablo honey being their worst (though it's a very good album, all the others are just so much better that it sucks in comparison.)

I'm a ministry fan as well. i have every album I can get my grubby hands on. Even With Sympathy, their 1st album that is all done with midi. Mind is terrible thing, land of rape and honey. All are good. After their guitarist died though, well I think it all went to shit.Songs like NWO, Theives, just one fix. Those are fucking awesome. They really are some of the best imo. IP: Logged |
