@home used to be nazi's about having more than one computer on without paying for more IP's. Funny thing is, I didn't see a difference between having one computer pulling shit off FTP's and websites and having two sharing the SAME BANDWIDTH.

The new cable internet company doesn't give a shit though, as long as you limit it to you're own household.

Hell, each modem has 3 IP's assigned to it by default now.

They're figuring that you'll actually USE more of your bandwidth if you've got multiple users connected... sure they might be selling you a pipe capped at 1500/128, but that doesn't mean they're actually planning on you using all of it 24/7.

Keep in mind that cable companies and DSL companies both oversell their bandwidth, so they tend to be rather hyperconscious of whether or not you actually USE your bandwidth... they'd really prefer you didn't.
