I had a conversation with Hussain today, and he is of the opinion that that picture is completely honest, and the advertisers probably just didn't catch the references before it went to press.

hussain: i htink its an honest mistatke

clme: You think that a womans shadow in the background, a photoshopped penIs cloud, the suggestive semen-like substance on his lip, AND the carrot-being-held-like a penis all are a coincidental mistake?

clme: Dude... you've never taken close looks at cigarette ads before.

hussain: heh

clme: You can make out penis outlines in the photoshopped dresses on the cigarrette models there. Or the cigarettes that look like their going for her crotch, etc.

hussain: chris, can we talk about something else? you're harsh wierding me out

clme: This is EXACTLY what Jimbo titled it, and it seriously bothers me.

hussain: heh.

clme: Weirding you out? Damn man... advertising is all about subconcious images. Account Executives get paid to know this stuff... and THATS another reason why I dont think this was coincidence... any trained advertiser would think this sticks out.

clme: Ok... so... hows' your new computer?

There's a few elements missing in this picture that definitely show up in the one with the boy. Since the location is obviously the same, I think its safe to assume that it was photoshpped.

If only the scissors could have been located before this picture was damaged. (sigh)

Now, Bitchgoddess may have a point on the prank issue, but I think now I'll have to go out and find some of the old (or new!) ads that were used to bring this advertising trick to my attentions.

Basically, anything near a waterfall is good too. Makes the water-frozen-in-time look like semen going for the actress. Degrading, but it sells!

This one has been around forever. Basically the idea is that the cigarrette is a phallic symbol pointing towards the females naughty bits.

There's so much in here, but the majority of it is either obvious or played off as canibalism, so its not quite as subversive.

Marshmallows stretched to her mouth, and her buttocks firmly against his crotch. Not too bad.

This has a few of the bluring/painting in elements, mostly on the ladies butt. cigarettes do not look like that in a back pocket, and unless you look closely the guy appears to be stroking her behind. There's also a bad joke that could elude to the naturalness of her bust. Again, nothing too bad.

I wish I could find the examples of the truly subversive ads that we collected for a psych class a few years ago.

But, I have a mission for the penIs readers now:
Pay attention to the ads you read and see on an everyday basis. Pay close attention to any airbrusing, purposeful blurring, or not-quite-innocent gestures. You'd be surprised how many things are really sexual on a subconsious level wether you're a dirty pig like me or not

also back a few years it was a sorta common joke that the ranch in the cafeteria had to have crack or something in it the way people were eating it. they put it on almost everything even pizza.

glad i brought my own lunch all those years.
