got me thinknig, as eye always do,

but what do you ppl think about homeless people?

i mean, i have pity, but at the same time i have to overcome the fact that a homeless guy might be that fucking moron that went to my high school, and who thought he was so awesome, but we all knew he wouldnt amount to shit, and said to ourselves "acnt wait to see where this focker is in 10years"

but then again you ahve to turn around the turn around,,, and think maybe they are just really not fortunate and some can't help it,,,

Yes, there are some who are so addicted to everything out there that they ask people for money, and those are mostly the ones you see on the street. Don't forget, you can always point them toward your local good will house, they have them in every city they have homeless people.

but that's just one or two cases...

i do feel sorry for the majority of folks i see out on the street, i've also done some work with food not bombs, and chatted with a few of the people who come to the meals...a lot of them are people who just want a free meal lawyers and such but still...others are in need of good food for free. most of the homless population are very interesting to talk to, i reccomend it hghly. another sector of the homelss population is homeless (and i know i sound like a dick saying this) because they want to be. i mean, no responsibilities, you're pretty much ignored by a lot of people, which can be nice...

it's a complicated issue for me...i can't say one way or the other about feeling sympathetic...i feel sorry for the ones who are homeless because they can't find a job, or the have been descriminated against, and also the ones who dig through the trash looking for bottles and cans, but not for the joe-shmoe who stands on the corner, in better clothes than me, asking for change.

also on my shitlist are the panhandlers who bully me for money.

a story: once i went to subway to get a sandwich. i walk in, there's a man sitting at the table nearest the counter. as soon as i walk in he asks me for a dollar. i say, i don't have it, because i didn't think i had a dollar to spare. at this point i resolved to give him whatever change i had that was left over from when i bought my sandwich. so i order, and as the woman behind the counter is making the sandwich, she tells the guy to take off. fine, whatever. the guy then become extremely belligerent toward me and the woman...as if he expects people to give him money...keep in mind he was wearing blakc leather pants, gold chains around his neck, and gold rings. if he really needed money he could've pawned that stuff. so he stays there until i get my change and i decide, not to give him the money because of his belligerent behavior.

also freshman year of college my room mate let a homeless man stay in our room a few times...god he stunk, and god was he dillusional....they snorted ritalin in my room together...his name was kiki. ahh good times. they touched my stuff, played my $700 guitars. bascally made a mess of things. scared a lot of people on my floor...his heart was in the right place though. (my room mate's)

usually if i have change i will give it to panhandlers if i can aford it...lately i cannot, and it really hurts me to see ayone on the street. one of my good friends is getting evicted soon and i feel bad, cause it sucks, but on the flipside, she has had many oportunities to get a job...she is unemployed because she chooses to be, or because she's too depressed to go out and find work. she's also fucked me over emotionally several times, so it's really hard for me to feel too much pity for her...anyway.

i have sympathy for those who don't want to be on the street. because i've been there, not for longer than two weeks, but still it sucks. i'd rather talk to them for a while, then give them money, rather than give them money just cause they ask for it.

the homeless statistics in our country make me sick.

There is no easy way to help either of these groups.

Forced community service is evil and disgusting. It is involuntary servitude, hence, slavery. I hope that if it were a requirement back when I was in high school that I would have had the guts to refuse to cooperate. I'm not sure what I would have done, because I was badly worried about my future at the time, but I hope I would have told them to shove it.

Isn't it wonderful the things adults see fit to force young people to do once the adults are safely past the age where they might have to do it themselves? It's all part of the Boomer disease I like to occasionally rant about. The bitterly ironic thing is that by most measures, the teens and early twenty-somethings today are better people than the Boomers were at their age. The Boomers like to delude themselves that they were doing something significant when the smoked dope and fornicated to end the Vietnam War. Yeah, right on.

I don't want to turn this into a high school debate forum, or whatever, and while ignatius does bring in students from many cities, they do not actively recruit. It's like... yeah, you can go to a local school, or, you can go to Ignatius. That's as simple as it is... they don't have Chico Kyle going door to door. Trust me, the deal is, you want in to Ignatius... if you don't, they got someone else on the waiting list.

Massolin Washington is a public school, but they have some shadiness behind them. They paid Zwick (OSU's next 'Star' QB) to move into the district (he would have played for a D4 or D5 team or something), and they pulled a few strings with OHSAA.

I lived in the S.F. bay area in the mid 80's after the great Jarvis tax reform was passed.
The state was forced to drastically reduce it's operational budget. As a result, state parks turned into adobe wastelands and state mental hospitals were in effect, closed down.

The folks in the mental hospitals went onto the streets of course. Some of those people were WAY off the wall. I worked downtown, the moment you crawled from a BART station they were all over you, some were damned aggressive. When they was a polotical convention in town they were rounded up and put in jail untill the conference was over.
It was lidicrius.

The answer of course is to bring them into our homes. Don't think that's going to happen anytime soon.

Actually, St. Ignatius vs. St. Ed's just isn't the rivalry it used to be. I mean, Ed's beat Ignatius this year, but that was only one of four losses... they one by a field goal in overtime, and all the fans acted as if they had won the fucking Superbowl. Lot of good that did them, when a 6-4 regular season team won the OHSAA title for the 8 or 9th time...

I came home to see a few games (including both Massolin Washington, and Eds), and well... while the fire was still there, it seemed as if they almost expected to win. They were lazy, and that's why they lost so much in the regular season... oh well.
