Lately over the past few weeks ever since I got my wireless headphones, I've been listening to some music for about 15min before I goto bed (lying in my bed listening)

but lately I've been falling asleep with them on, and i've found I can go to sleep pretty quick,

usually listen to:

Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works II (fucking incredible, down right scary on a few tracks while your laying in the darkness with headphones on)

also some really nice melody tracks such as

Come to daddy - 08 - Iz-Us
Richard D. James album - 13 - Girl Boy(snare rush mix)
...I Care Because You Do - 10 - Alberto Baslasm

just wondering if any of you listen to music when trying to get to sleep, and if it helps? what typeS? etc?

If I was tired enough I could listen to anything and still fall asleep. But the last track on Barenaked Ladies' Stunt album, called "When You Dream," that isn't bad. I've also listened to OLP's Happiness and the Fish and Silverchair's Neon Ballroom every night for like three-week-long periods, but neither of those is particularly sleep-inducing as a whole, just the last track or two.

I almost always go to sleep with music on, but it's usually different stuff each night. Lately I've been on an Eels kick, but I normally just select something at random from my 22 gigs.

I have my 900 song playlist on 24/7, things from fiddler on the roof, to mozaart, to people reading from the Hobbit (or bible or quaran), to whatever music I have downloaded over the years... sometimes its annoying, but not usually. I also go to sleep watch my Futurama, Simpsons, SpaceGhost, Thundercat shows... yeah 8 gigs of TV shows!

SAW II is great for sleep.

Divination -- ambient side project of Bill Laswell, great for sleep.

the first Death In Vegas album is great for sleeping.

Current 93's "Soft Black Stars"

I listen to a lot of spoken word stuff to go to sleep...especially Garrisson Keillor's "News From Lake Wobegon" stuff.

Coil's "Time Machines" album -- it's basically drones, and all four songs on the disc (15minutes+ each) is named after a psychedelic's chemical formula.

Twilight Circus Dub Sound System -- the best dub music, ever. Period.

Today I left Lake Wobegon playing and went to sleep but I woke up early cos I forgot that I had left Sonic Youth's "Ghosts of NYC" in the changer and there's one really long song that's basically feedback and Kim Gordon screaming and Thurston chanting and that woke me up.

i been falling asleep watching tv lately.. works good.. don't get wrapped up thinking about the days bullshit. I have trouble sleeping to the music i listen to .. unless it's D&B... cuz i know all the words so i sing along in my head... and it doesn't help the sleep factor. Boring ass tv puts me right to sleep though...

werd? werd.
