All those in favor of dice DVD's will be interested in this: http://www.dvdplanet.com/criterion/
all criterion DVD's are 35% off. If you own many DVD's and know nothing about criterion, you should continue buying copies of 'Gone in 60 Seconds' and leave me alone forever.

yeah the brazil dvd's are nice as fuck. I also picked up the "seven samurai" dvd....this movie is ultra cool and was the basis of the more well known (in the u.s., anyway,) "magnificent seven". "fistful of dollars" was based on the same director's "yojimbo" (where the fuck is jimbo anyway? he hasn't posted in a dog's age.)

I think he's boycotting the INTARNET b/c his site's mail server is fucked up, and run by monkey asshats or something.

I dunno, I keep getting bounce messages every time I mail him.

What's good about the criterion dvds? The extra stuff?

And the directory you're talking about is the famed Kurosawa. I met his son once.

begin short rant:
criterion is one of the few companies that actually put out movies correctly the first time. Yes, the prices are high, but rest assured they are using that money to make all of the movies rule.
example of shitty non-criterion discs:
the Kubrick collection (both releases)
while the second release fixes MAJOR flaws, these discs are still not as amazing as they should be, and viewing them on a high quality TV is depressing.
The only hopes of getting acceptable foreign/older discs is through criterion. They actually put out interesting commentary tracks
anchor bay puts out some good stuff and there are some amazing discs put out by the major companies that rule (fight club, seven, etc.) But I hear that those releases are unprofitable.
