happy birthday to all involved in the birthday-having everything...FUCK!!! i hate it when i wake up late for class, hop on my bike, ride very fast and VERY wrecklessly to get there (i ride a track bike, so riding fast is always wreckless). my left foot came out of the clip this morning as i tried to skid to a stop at a busy intersection which means i have half the opportunity to try to stop as i usually do. i came to a stop at the intersection, crossed at the appropriate time, and locked my bike, ready to sit in a once-a-week 4 hour class from hell. so i get up there, and there's a sign posted on the door. "MA-blahblahblha...numbers with prof. big giant hippie with a stick in his ass will is cancelled. no we do not care that you're paying $2560 per class per semester, you will not be compensated in any way unless your professor wishes to take it upon himself to garnish his meager wages to repay you, or uses his all too valuable time (too valuable today for all of you) to help you supplement any knowledge you may be lacking until next week. i nearly got killed going to class this morning only to have it cancelled. so now i'm lying in bed, about to go back to sleep in a VERY foul mood. i bet the prof is just hung over and fucking....his wife right now, rather than teaching me the finer points of using pro-tools...granted it's a pretty pointless class, but IT'S THE PRINCIPLE OF THE THING!!!!!!! FUCK! off to sleepy land. ------------------ i will use my "death's head" on you, AJAX!! then we shall see who's tank is better... IP: Logged |

i quit. i know i pay too much...dis edikashun is not werth it. tried to explain it to the folks, but they just didn't get it, they thought it'd be more expensive for me to transfer. although it is true that most of the credits here at Emerson College (the ivy league for misfits) real motto: "education necessary for evolution" somethinglike that... it's a glorified "art" school where instead of letting us hone our crafts they teach us how to sell it to a commercial audience. i hate my school ------------------ i will use my "death's head" on you, AJAX!! then we shall see who's tank is better... Has anyone else ever seen the musical version of Candide? Since my college is a conservatory, they did an awesome production of it in... November I think... the Cunegonde part is SO incredibly high. Damn.IP: Logged |

Musical version of candide? That makes sense. Does it incluse the part where cunegonde is getting ravaged? What about the woman with half an ass (if memory serves)? And candide getting beaten until his spinal cord is exposed, they don't gloss over that part, do they?IP: Logged |

i think it probably follows candide around and then you only hear about everyone else...like in the book...the woman with half an ass gets ravaged a lot worse than cunegonde...god candide (the character) is such a dumbass. ------------------ "Imagine every possible contradiction and inconsistency, and you will find them all in the government, law courts, churches, and entertainments of this odd nation." - Voltaire's Candide IP: Logged |

Yes, yes, and sort of. They just don't actually show any of it. I do remember Candide getting violently beaten but nobody said anything about his spinal cord being exposed. IP: Logged |

I'm out of state... so my fees per quarter (excluding my scholarships, which don't help much) come to $7150. Minus scholarships, it's $4983. Thank god it's not my money.IP: Logged |

yeah after houseing and books and tech fee its a lil over $8000/semester here. wow.
nuff siad. and even tho my rents have money, they don't help me out, because "none of my other brothers / sisters" got spoiled or anything. ok i understand that, but they (all much older now) were also too stupid to go to college. hmmm, oh well, so i have scholarships and financial aid that is running out very quickly. if i get this job, then ill be getting paid hella fat and they pay my tutition (i dont know exactely how much, but i know its over $6000/yr im pretty sure) ,, and i only have to work 2 years there after i graduate = at least job security. god college is fucking expensive. even tho im not directely paying for it like some of yuo, and eod, i at least REALIZE the situation, and how a lot of ppl cant go to college because of this - while most ppl who go to large party colleges for a degree in being a janitor, just go on loving it. yawn fucking government, and society classes. Well, I didn't read it yesterday, but I seem to recall that, when Candide is conscripted in the (prussian?) army and tries to desert, he's made to "run the gauntlet", where he walks between two rows of soldiers who beat him with rods. I believe it mentioned that his spine, or sinews, or something, ended up visible through the excoriated skin. But the best line in the entire book was after the earthquake (in portugal? I forget), when candide is lying injured, and asking for water, and his philosopher friend (pangloss?) is explaining what causes earthquakes. After the explanation, candide says, "Nothing is more probable. Now, for the love of god, bring me a little water!" and pangloss replies, "Probable, my lord? I maintain that the matter is proved! You see.." hee hee. French atheists. IP: Logged |
