E-Bikes slashing oil demand more than electric vehicles...

This is just cool to me.

I haven't jumped on the e-bike wagon yet. Getting one would supplement, rather than replace, my usage. Plus there are three months a year I couldn't see myself using one. Still...

  • That makes total sense. The problem with driving bikes on the same roads that cars use it that it's dangerous.

  • Back when I had an office to go to, I managed to talk the company into installing a shower in the bathroom so I could do the 11 mile commute on my bike. And even then I only did it when the weather was not too hot or cold or wet. I ended up using my dirty 50cc scooter a LOT more. If an e-bike had been an option I probably would have peddled most of the time, just because I wouldn't have to work up a sweat, could have big fenders and carry a change of clothes without it slowing me down.

  • I knew someone, years ago, who's dad rode a bike to work year-round... sun, rain, snow... whatever. It wasn't a short right either... 20+ kilometers. Savage.

Since your climate is probably even worse than mine... that is damn impressive.

Actually... the lakes really moderate our temperatures. We don't get the bitter cold that people West of Lake Michigan get.

  • Nice.

    Any lake-effect snow?

Only occasionally... All the lake-effect off of Lake Erie hits Western New York... usually slides South of us. Lake-effect comes off of Georgian Bay, but doesn't quite make it to us. In the last few years I've used the snow blower to clear the driveway three times a year, on average.
