My grandfather recently passed.
He provided a lot of fodder for my "right wing view of the internet" stuff. The thing is, the son of a bitch (and my grandma) basically raised me for a few years during the very early 1990s when my folks were between houses.
Grandma wasn't a conservative. But Grandpa was a right wing crank. Up until like 2008 they didn't bother voting because they'd cancel each other out. Well, he was a big Trumper. Like, his favorite T-shirt was a cartoon of trump personally building a wall.
Still. Dude raised me for a few years. I'm conflicted on how to deal with this.

Hang onto the good memories and let the bad ones go fuzzy. It's not like you're in danger of forgetting what's wrong with that mindset if you remember the good in some of the practitioners. Depth of empathy is probably the biggest thing that separates us from them.
Sorry for your loss Chris. The nice thing about having a selective memory is having a bit of control over what gets forgotten.
