After famous billionaire Taylor Swift came out with a very reserved and muted endorsement of Kamala Harris, the usual suspects LOST THEIR MINDS. I mean, they had been predicting that Swift would lead a cult of swifties to vote and then declare a communist revolution back when she started dating that football dude. Yet here we are; she finally endorses a candidate and even says she won't judge anyone that votes for the other candidate (she is, after all, a billionaire) and they lose their goddamn minds. It was practically what they wanted and they had no idea how to handle it.
So Elon Musk... somehow still a billionaire despite all his attempts otherwise, posts a completely creepy and weird post to 'own' Swift.
I guess its trying to make fun of her not having any kids yet, and identifying with cat ladies?
It failed miserably. Its cringy as hell. It's weird. It's... Well, its just stupid and bad.
Did the people 'rigging the debate' make Trump completely mess up a fucking softball question about the health care plan he's been promising us for 8 fucking years?
8 years, stunts with thousands of (blank) pages on a table, the best minds in the party supposedly meeting to create a plan, and he couldn't even come up with "repeal Obama care and override state based restrictions on health insurance" like his lackeys would have mentioned?
(removing those state-based restrictions would probably make things immensely worse, but at least its a plan)
I mean, the moments where Walz and his family were showing emotion were very sweet. Despite the normal shit happening at a political convention, the reaction his son had to his father mentioning him was authentic.
Although the reactions to the weird Twixxerverse reactions can be both amusing and make a point about how 'weird' has really defined the election this year.

Of course! They're fine with his explanation that "He had to make up 'memes' to get the media to talk about him"
(Ignoring the fact that he is not a random twixxer shitposter, and what he did was not a meme).
I'm also certain that they will rationalize it by thinking that, while this specific story was false, it is representative of the dangers these immigrants pose on American society. Its fine to use fake stories because, you know.... they're terrible.
Even more depressingly... I saw in a comment on a website, earlier in the week, where a the commenter said that he had several family members that believed that the President was directly responsible for the prices of things (gas, groceries, etc.). Like the President would pick up the phone and call the head of the grocery chains and tell them what prices to set on things. They would react with anger and incredulity; when told that's "not how any of it works."
How can you elect competent and ethical leadership, when so much of the electorate is that dumb?!?
I'm pretty sure the Hmong immigrants from the 70s and 80s used to clean out the suburban small game, including strays, but that was a long time ago. Maybe it somehow remained in the collective consciousness.
Anyway, the Republican Party is reaching peak crazy. We're probably due for a political realignment, but first-past-the-post voting makes it take awhile.

You need to remove some of the democracy. Pure democracy does not work, and the United States has been moving in that direction for some time.
For instance, the political party insiders used to have a lot more say in who the parties' candidates would be. Now they've gone to primary elections, mostly. This is bad.

The thing is, we've had stupid, hateful people come damn close to taking over entire parties a few times, and they could have caused major damage. Twice around WWII alone with the fascist sympathizers.
That's without even getting into things that sitting congresscritters weren't directly involved in, like Smedley Butler foiling the Business Plot or bizarre plans to install ol' tailgunner Joe McCarthy as president.
Honestly I think that people really just underestimate how much the internet has ruined discourse... while at the same time what value it had is being slowly eliminated by late-stage capitalism demanding every single click be monetized.
In a sign that news continues to keep happening, vdare just shut down. Apparently the founder took acid and had an epiphany realization that race is a social construct. Haha I'm kidding, actually he was brought down by a lawsuit over using funds from a non-profit to buy a castle.
I'm shocked that the polymath was unable to outmaneuver the overreaching activist judiciary on that one. It's a sad day for free-thinking scientists. < /Bill>
Well, to be fair he says they also suffered extraordinary cyberattacks, which he attributes to both "a human intelligence .. probably using AI" and also the FBI. So I mean he had his hands full.

How the hell did this happen 2 months ago without me hearing about it earlier? Holy shit. I hope its because the influence of vdare has waned that much over the years, but I suspect its just because I stopped making lurker accounts on alt-right pages.
...On a related note, they posted goodbye videos on their page, and somehow YouTube comments are still worse than Rumble comments.
Vance is quite upset that the moderators added context to his continued stories about Ohio.
It seems like a major self-own, but we have to remember that terminally online MAGA folks have changed the meaning of 'fact check' to be 'free speech erasure' and 'covering up for Democrats'. So he said exactly what he needed to say for his base.
(Also that VP debate in no way convinced any undecided voter to change sides anyway).

From his goodbye screed he sounds like a stone-cold lunatic, but with current-era conservatives it's hard to tell whether they're genuinely crazy or just tailoring their language to appeal to Trump supporters.

So Trump parroted the "Haitians eating cats" lie at the debate a week ago.
J.D. Vance continues to parrot it despite publicly acknowledging that he knows its made up.
This has not been good for immigrants anywhere, but particularly in Ohio.
...and then we have Elon Musk.
After famous billionaire Taylor Swift came out with a very reserved and muted endorsement of Kamala Harris, the usual suspects LOST THEIR MINDS. Then the right picking on Walz and his family.
I mean, the moments where Walz and his family were showing emotion were very sweet. Despite the normal shit happening at a political convention, the reaction his son had to his father mentioning him was authentic.
But what do we get from the twiXXerverse?
...How old should the milk be, Sean Collins?
Although the reactions to the weird Twixxerverse reactions can be both amusing and make a point about how 'weird' has really defined the election this year.
But hey, at least Popehat still exists and hasn't turned out to be some weird sex pest.
"JD Vance admits he is willing to ‘create stories’ to get media attention"

They'll still vote for him.
