Jesus Fucking Christ.
I'm so mad.
At the Democrats.
Can someone at least prove to me that they didn't WANT to lose? I mean, could they have fucking handled any part of the election from June until now any worse?
They couldn't take a side on Israel/genocide. They couldn't do the right thing and SCREAM about the administration's accomplishments over the last 4 years, which were actually impressive. They couldn't bother to explain that inflation going down doesn't mean prices actually drop because that would be deflation and a bad sign for the nation's economy. They couldn't do more than offer platitudes about grocery stores proven price-fixing. They couldn't differentiate from Republicans on the border, labor, or foreign policy. They couldn't counter the bullshit about tariffs because they forgot that the working class doesn't know what tariffs do to prices. They were fucking gifted a charismatic guy in the form of Tim Walz and told him to shut the fuck up shortly after he moved the approval bar a lot closer to 50% by countering the insults with better insults that were less 'edgy'.
Jesus Fucking Christ.
I have a headache and I'm drunk. I'm going to bed.

[Also I realize that like 5% of the Democratic party will always refuse to vote for a woman, a black person, or anyone that even acknowledges trans rights... but its 2024 so fuck them]
And right at the point when its generally understood that at least some feminists are toxic and genuinely not nice people, they run an ultra-feminist campaign aimed at the group thats most disadvantaged by some aspects of feminism
Been baffled at the sheer ineptness of it all
Feeling sorry for you lot.
Fucking hell, those appointments...
Now I'm curious of Pam Bondi will turn out to be even worse than Matt Gaetz, or if she'll seem tame in comparison.
I mean, she's definitely a horrible person. I had forgotten about seeing her in the news so damn often a decade + ago.
(That's not even getting into all the other horrible appointments. I just feel like Pam Bondi's appointment as Attorney General has been lost due to people being surprised that Gaetz dropped out).
Oh shit. I just saw Kash Patel for FBI.
He wrote a series of children's books about how much he loves Trump and buys into conspiracies about him. He has outright stated he would do anything for Trump.
I've written at length a few times about the first book in this series. I had no idea the other two existed, and now I wish I was still ignorant.
"It teaches fairness, integrity, and most of all: the importance of being truthful" holy shit.
Just keep in mind that the permanent bureaucracy actually runs the country. Presidents can only do so much without the entire government behind them.
She's in Trump's pocket, so I'm sure it will be awful, but she has in fact been an Attorney General somewhere... I suppose that's a qualification or sorts.
Based on everything I've heard (which isn't much, admittedly), I expect him to practically dismantle the FBI and it will be a shit show.
I don't believe Congress wants the FBI dismantled.
This is not aimed at you guys, but people get so hysterical about Trump. I wasn't impressed with his first term. He failed. I don't see any reason to believe he'll be able to get a whole lot done in his second term with his mind failing and as a lame duck.
In any event, he isn't particularly racist. He isn't anti-gay. He's not a warmonger. The headlines I've been seeing are pathetic.
His mind is absolutely failing... but not quite fast enough. Although if it completely goes (or if he suddenly passes) at least VP J.D. is pretty widely disliked on the Hill.
Trump believes in nothing but himself.
He's racist as hell... but he overlooks it if they either have money or ass-kiss him enough. His first decade in the news was for driving black people out of his father's apartment buildings, and it only got worse with the Central Park kids or his 'one drop rule' bullshit.
He finds being gay distasteful, but overlooks it for money or... (etc). Remember that his favorite lawyer (Roy Cohn) was gay and yet planned/perpetrated the Lavender scare with Joe McCarthy. That doesn't even get into his treatment of trans people (unless they have money/etc, again [see: Caitlyn Jenner]).
He doesn't want to be a warmonger, he wants to be the top Oligarch and look S-T-R-O-N-G. If looking strong means committing war-crimes, well, he'd put Obama's warcrimes to shame. If he knew it would make the other leaders out there look up to him (rather than merely tolerating him) his crimes would make Henry Kissinger look like a goddamn school child. However, he'd never get a splash of blood on his own clothes.
The "checks and balances" that insured he failed the first time have been at least partially dismantled by his sycophants (despite almost everyone that has ever worked for him hating his guts). He is purposely nominating people that will assist firing all the bureaucrats that actually run things, claiming they're 'too loyal to the corrupt system', and so far it sounds like he'll get 90% of them through while the New York Times calls them "a quirky choice". Nixon had to fire 6 people to get someone to do what he wanted in the Justice Department... Trump wants them all fired to begin with.
At least half of the impending doom was going to happen even if he lost, and some of the damage he set up in the first term took time to percolate and Biden lacked the time or ability to dismantle.
But hey, its what we voted for.
I think you exaggerate because you hate the guy. I see no real evidence that he's a *ist.
Political appointees can be fired, but the permanent bureaucracy that runs things have job security. Trump is doing his best to fill the politically appointed jobs with loyalists, but if they are a bunch of incompetents, the bureaucracy will just work around them.
I've been wrong before, but right now I expect his second term to be like his first, but even more so.
As you know, I think the greatest challenge facing the United States is excessive immigration. He failed to fix that his first term. Maybe Congress will smarten up and fix it his second term, but I'm not holding my breath.
His worst idea is protective tariffs. He might convince Congress to slap one on China, but I doubt is they are crazy enough to do the same to Canada and Mexico.
I'm not sure Trump does either, but setting that aside which current GOP congress members do you envision publicly standing against him?
You're thinking too narrowly. For one, a classic narcissist isn't really racist or sexist, but they'll happily behave as if they are when it suits their purposes, which is just as bad to those affected. For another, he's a rapist so there's that.
