I'm currently dailying one of the nine surviving roadworthy UK-spec Saab 9-3 2.3i convertibles (its 27 years old and this exact model was only produced for a single year) and paranoid about something stupid happening because theres no way in the world spares can be got for it if involved in an accident

There are some valuable Saabs in the world, but they are far and few between. Likely the insurance company would set a pretty low value for a car like yours, and anything more than a minor fender-bender would write the car off.
I have had some accidents in my decades of driving (though, nothing recent). In all cases, at least partially my fault. I've had people throw their cars at me at times; but I always seemed to manage to avoid the collision. This was a first; where there wasn't enough time or space to avoid the hit. Now, I cling to the (entirely unscientific) notion of the law of averages... When I inevitably replace the car, it can't be possible for someone else to crash into me AGAIN.
oh, you;re quite right - whole reason I got into Saabs was the low cost of entry compared to other equally-interesting vehicles. My attachment to the car is solely down to liking how it looks (below) & drives and having used it for 7 years now - I paid £1500 for it and its worth about £2500 now - owing to the general increase in used car values over recent years

Whoa are you okay?
That will buff out.
Yes. My wife was pretty sore for a couple days, but we are both otherwise unharmed.
You'd think... but the insurance company didn't agree. Settlement check is in the mail, and I'm on the hunt for another one.
rough luck, sorry
