What needs tweaks?

  • I wasn't aware of this. They seem to have a personal philosophy around people deleting their own post. Looks like I can manually edit the config file to allow it.

    I gotta go tuck in kiddos but here are the notes to myself:

    $Configuration['Vanilla']['Comments']['AllowSelfDelete'] = TRUE;

    this option was added as of 2.1b2 - if you look at changelogs you can see new features and bug fixes.

  • Yeah, I get the whole "can't delete, once you've posted it" philosophy... It just doesn't help me when I've posted my meme in the wrong thread... :s

    Huh. You know, at least they're considerate enough to use the same email domain so banning is easy.

    Vanilla needs a bulk delete option in the dashboard though.

  • ImgurUpload plugin broke awhile ago. Hence the "website returned error 0" errors every time we added an image.

    I've disabled it since it was actually completely breaking adding images on mobile. It looks like it hasn't been updated in a few years, and I couldn't view the settings since it said 'access denied'.

    Tagging @eod for next time he visits the site. :)

  • Well looking at the Vanilla forums. Overall it seems to be losing open source support. My fear is that we lose again another forum platform and have to rebuild. Each time a little weaker.

    I think we should investigate if we can migrate users and posts over to a more supported platform before we get sort of left in a technical debt corner.

    I'm happy to move up to the newest and check the plugins but maybe it makes more sense to put that effort into yet another forum pivot but hopefully his time with some sort of message and user migration.

  • With twitter imploding this could be a great opportunity to grow the PenMigh brand and reach out to a new generation of youth-oriented demographic verticals. Does our board have a plan in place to properly monetize the growing opportunities in this space?

  • Well, shit.

    Yeah, that kinda sounds like the death knell. Too bad, this has been kind of a nice platform, despite the quirks.

    Thankfully jumping on a migration at this point while things are still working probably ups the chances of a clean migration.
    ...right?

    Anyway, if there is anything I can help with let me know.
