Someone suggested that I try something like incontinence pads as part of a potty training strategy. I really wasn't aware of anything besides pull-ups/adult diapers before that, and am still not certain how serious to take the suggestion.

I was only pretending to joke - my kid's about 10 lbs from moving to adult diapers.
You can get the Goodnites pads most places you can buy regular diapers. We use pads _and _pull-ups, because my kid gives no fucks about personal hygiene.
